Forrester Announces Government Reform Plan
to Take Back New Jersey
( Trenton, NJ ) – Building on his calls for an elected state auditor and a host of other government reforms, gubernatorial nominee Doug Forrester today detailed a comprehensive Government Reform plan. Forrester cited the years of government abuse in Trenton that have demonstrated the need for comprehensive structural reforms to New Jersey ’s government.
"Wasteful spending, irresponsible and unfaithful representation, and Enron-style budgeting have contributed to New Jersey ’s deplorable fiscal situation and weakened the public faith in Government, said Forrester. “When I am governor, appointments will be based upon competence, budgets will be responsible, and the power of the people to control their government will be restored.
Forrester’s plan includes:
Reining in Wasteful Spending
Elect an Independent Auditor General
Eliminate the Secretary of State
Eliminate Commissions, Boards & Councils that are Inactive or Not Needed
Establish minimum standards for grant programs
Prohibit the Governor from Appearing in State-paid Advertisements
Fair and Faithful Representation
End the Practice of Dual Office-holding
Ban Candidate Swapping
Abolish Education Commissioner’s Power to Overrule Voters on School Budget
Strengthen the OPRA Law
Honest Budgeting
More Meaningful Revenue Certifications
Revenue Forecasting
Public Access to Budget Bill
End “Below the Line Spending
Bonds on the Ballot Constitutional Amendment
Prohibit “Back-loading of Debt Service

My name is Bill Parkinson from West New York where the Speaker of the House, Albio Sires, is mayor. That starts the problem in NJ Mayors who become assemblyman use their towns to create laws that only benefit them. Abbott is a program that doesn't work because the money doesn't all go to the children. In my town we have a superintendent of schools making $225,000 and 3 asst. Superintendents making $180,000, where one of them is Albio's wife. 4 people making $800,000 on Abbott money...80% of the school budget is from the state. No audits about these outrageous salaries where the minute Sires is given the congressman's job if Corzine wins, they will all retire and we the taxpayers will be stuck with the bill! Please look into Abbott area salaries and failed SCC dealings!
