Ethical Quagmire for Incumbent Assembly Members in District 37
After denying for weeks that there is nothing wrong with holding dual public offices, that there is nothing wrong with collecting donations for Clean Election Program on Borough Hall property in Englewood, that there is nothing wrong with having direct conflict of interest in public contracts being awarded by the Bergen County and the state of New Jersey to a law firm where incumbent Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle’s husband is a partner, an ethical bomb have exploded in the incumbent Assembly members’ faces dragging voters in District 37 into an ethical quagmire.
Recent revelations about incumbent Assemblyman Johnson donations to an anti-Semitic politician reveal his lack of judgment which is expected from a state legislator. We are afraid that incumbent Assemblyman Johnson will not excise sound judgment in making decisions about state highways monetization, property taxes reforms, and educational funding reforms, among other issues.
Voters in District 37 do not deserve this treatment from their representatives in Trenton. We, the challengers to Assembly from District 37 demand that both incumbent Assembly members come clean in public and answer the following questions:
What did incumbent Assemblywoman Huttle know about EnCap and when did she find out?
How much has she been involved with her husband’s law firm receiving public contracts from the Bergen County and the State of New Jersey for last 6 years?
Is incumbent Assemblyman Johnson going to drop out of his reelection bid in light of all ethical controversies that have surfaced in last weeks?
Is incumbent Assemblywoman Huttle going to follow her running mate in dropping out of her reelection bid in order to have more time to explain her involvement in the Encap scandal?
It is time for a change in New Jersey politics.
Voters in District 37 deserve honest representation in Trenton from real reformers. We need the honesty, integrity and foremost, the commitment from our elected officials for change and reform. Frank Cifarelli and Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz are committed to reform and the change in New Jersey politics.
We will reform rapidly rising property taxes, we will reform escalating cost of the school funding, we will reform broken pension system, we will reform the depleted transportation fund, and we will restore public trust into the New Jersey political system. We will get escalating spending, governmental waste and abuse under control.
