Speaking to the crowd of Union County GOP delegates at Westfield High School on Saturday, U.S. Senate candidate Anne Evans Estabrook burnished Reagan's legacy while calling for fiscal restraint.
Estabrook lost a close contest for the line to her chief rival, state Sen. Joseph Pennacchio. Economics Prof. Murray Sabrin came in a distant third.
The next county convention is scheduled in Bergen on Thursday.

Quick
Quick invoke Ronald Reagan, a president from the 80s and the only Republican in the last half century the GOP use to help any faltering campaign!
Reagan to the rescue.
Well, it seems that if a Republican does not know what he stands for, he will extensively quote Ronald Reagan. Jersey Joe's almost entire speech is about Ronald Reagan, although he is running for the US Senate not the President of the USA. Mrs. Estabrook in her confusion also called on the Great Communicator to help her out. It almost worked. However, Jersey Joe talked only about Ronald Reagan. That did it.
Another Loss To The Pile
An establishment candidate who can't win the establishment vote = the campaign is DOA.
So far the count is 2 GOP County Chairman who have endorsed her and have seen that endorsement rejected by the voters in those counties, and more will come.

cruel and unusual punishment
Poor Ron must be twisting in his grave. He never had to wait 20 seconds to define the 2nd amendment. Twisting this 11th commandment thing into" dont ask me about the issues" is cruel and unusual punishment for all Republicans
Anne Give It a Rest
Ronald Reagan left the Democrats, you enable them. Thats the difference.
LAME
Even at her best, Estabrook is underwhelming. Does anybody still view her as a viable candidate?
Anyone got a bucket?
I WANT TO PUKE...
This woman just gets worse and worse, like old milk. Yeah, she is a business woman who thinks government is just some mega-large corporation.
Government isn't just about money darling, its also about protecting the rights and freedoms of our citizens. Yeah, invoking a one-liner from Reagan sounds cute, but the Union County Republicans saw through that guise.
How about she try for a more local elected position first, like dog catcher.
Kelly McManus' last minute robocall
didn't help. She chided Jersey Joe's people for questioning Anne's GOP credentials. She didn't deny that Anne funded Dem candidates. Poor quality spin that didn't work.
Anne assumed that Phil Morin had any influence in the County LOL.
