A WABC-TV poll conducted by SurveyUSA has the race for Governor in a statistical dead heat among likely voters: Republican Christopher Christie leads Gov. Jon Corzine 41%-39%. Christopher Daggett, one of ten independent candidates, is at 19%.
Last week, SurveyUSA had Christie ahead 40%-39%, with Daggett at 14%..
“SurveyUSA's tracking graphs are flat. Corzine has not polled more than 40% nor less than 39%. Christie has not polled more than 43% nor less than 40%. Of likely 2009 voters who voted for Corzine in 2005, just 60% stick with him today. 18% of 2005 Corzine voters today cross over to Republican Christie; 21% vote for the Independent,” SurveyUSA said in their poll analysis.
Christie leads 40%-38%-20% in North Jersey, 46%-40%-13% in Central Jersey, and 38%-38%-22% in South Jersey.
The October 19-21 poll of 674 likely voters has a margin of error of +/- 3.9%.

Daggett Breaks 20% - Can win election
Daggett Breaks 20% in latest Poll. He will have a Major impact on an election.
The 20% threshold represents a psychological barrier and breaking that barrier gives Daggett a chance to win the election.
http://njelection.wordpress.com/2009/10/22/daggett-breaks-20-in-latest-p...
Once the voters who want Corzine out of office realize that Chris Christie’s ship is sinking faster than the Titanic we are likely to see a mass migration of voters from the Christie camp to the Daggett camp. Recent news about Christie includes a possible Christie Affair with Michele Brown, Christie’s family is connected to the Mob, accusations of several multi-million dollar extortion scandals, and even a petition to the DOJ by a NJ Senator to have Christie investigated for abusing his power as US Attorney General for political purposes.
Within the Republican Party there is a large group of Lonegan supporters that absolutely despise Chris Christie. The news that Daggett is polling at 20% could become the tipping point for these voters to jump ship and get on board with Chris Daggett.
On the flip side, there a majority of Democratic voters who would rather not vote for Corzine. These Democratic party voters feel that as bad as Corzine has been Christie would be much worse. And Christie’s recent steady drip of corruption scandals are help convincing them otherwise. For this group of voters the news of Daggett Breaking 20% in the latest poll is likely to sway a large portion of these voters to vote for Daggett Come election day.
Uh, no
Last week, SurveyUSA had Christie ahead 43%-40%, with Daggett at 14%.
Last week's SurveyUSA poll had Christie at 40%, Corzine 39% and Daggett at 18%.

Daggett won't break 10% come
Daggett won't break 10% come election day. These polls aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
Daggett will fade
This race is between Corzine and Christie. Daggett is no different than Corzine and wants higher taxes, tolls and various other spending programs. Corzine and Daggett are perfect together. Only Christie can bring real change. Many of my neighbors who thought about Daggett have now come to realize that he is in the race to divide the anti-Corzine vote. Daggett is nothing but a despicable politician and a clone of Jon Corzine.
Lonegan voters for Daggett
About 140,000 alienated Lonegan supporters have now found a answer to voting for Christie. Daggett is the answer to their frustration at being ignored by the Republican Party establishment.
Christie has made a critical mistake by treating these loyal Republican Party voters like lepers.
Lonegan supporters are not scared to voice their displeasure and cast a "send them a message "vote.
Christie is losing more and more of that 140,000 Lonegan vote each day.
Lonegan himself has sent his own message. He is only concerned with getting the Bond issue struck down . All of his effort is with that, not with Christie.
Go Watch Some Basebll Firstamend, It Might Destress You
Firstamend07, you're probably Lonegan himself.
You're more concerened about your personal agenda then anything else. You are no different the the thing you seem to think you are rallying against. And if Corzine is re-elected back in office, it's going to be at the hands of the people who blindly voted for Daggett because of simpleton thoughts such as "the lesser of two evils" or "bucking against the system" or "Daggett has a plan". Daggett's plan is to tax EVERYTHING.
A vote for Daggett isn't proving anything or bucking the system. It's feeding the exact beast you seem think you are preaching against. Good luck with that though. Come election day, if Corzine wins, Daggett won't be able to show his face In NJ. And sadly, either will Corzine.
39 % for Jon "Big Brother" Corzine
That works out about right in proportion to the population of New Jersey that either receive welfare, food stamps, SSI or Section 8 or are the government payroll in some form or another including government workers of all types and contractors to New Jersey governments. If you support Corzine you deserve a socialist tyranny. I thought New Jerseyans were so sophisticated and politically savvy. Being the highest taxed citizens in the whole US of A- a stroke of genius; how did you manage that New Jersey ?
We Can Do This
We can do this. We can get Corzine out of office...YES WE CAN! THe Daggett camp will come over to Christie.
Chris is the only one who is upset with what is going on in NJ. Corzine looks disinterested, and his disinterest shows in how he let the kids run the candy shop and look at what happened, Rabbis selling organs to pay political donations...what a sham...it even reached his own cabinet. You dont have to be a Goldman Sachs financial wizard to move money around and squeeze people to move out of the state. I am voting for Christie because he is the only one who looks like he is upset at what is going on and how the state is run. I believe Corzine is using his big money to buy the state of NJ. He is a WALL STREET PLAYER... President Obama is not going to be in the statehouse in Trenton on Nov 4th, so you all need to remember this when you vote, if you plan to stay in NJ and make a life...
Christies Ship is sinking
The Christie camp needs to come over to the Daggett side.
Those voters that Christie's campaign is claiming Daggett is draining. BS Christie is just way to corrupt and we just wont vote for him.
The GOP needs to get their heads examined for putting such a corrupt and unethical individual up for office.
You really have to hand it to Chris Daggett. Not only did he stand toe to toe with Jon Corzine and Chris Christie he really nailed it to them in the 3rd NJ Gubernatorial Debate. Once again, for the third time in a row, I give this as a notch for Daggett.
Chris Daggett handed it to both Christie and Corzine for corruption saying to fight corruption you need to lead by example.
Daggett then cited specific corrupt activities that Christie and Corzine had engaged in, including illegal campaign finance and pay to play, and neither Corzine or Christie could defend themselves.
Instead, Corzine acknowledges that activity is going on and agrees with Daggett that it needs to stop.
Daggett also called for an investigation into $6 Billion missing from the NJ Schools Construction Fund to which Corzine replied he has already put in all of the controls and regulations he could. Christie replied that as governor of NJ he would launch the investigation.
My question to Chris Christie is why didn’t you launch an investigation while you where the US Attorney General?

Old Republican Establishment STILL putting Lonegn people down
The arrogance of Christie and the old Republican establishment is well documented by their comments about Lonegan conservatives on this site.
This "icing out" is exactly why 140,000 Lonegan primary voters are moving to Daggett.
The old Republican establishment has ignored the conservative voice and their leader since June.
The conservatives will now ignore their candidate.
Christie will lose this election becasue he took for granted 140,000 Republican primary voters.
Daggett is right," It is never wrong to vote for the right man".
If the Republican Party doesn ot want Lonegan and his supporters then Lonegan and his supporters will not vote fro the Republican Party candidate.
CHECK THE POLLS ! CONSERVATIVE INDEPENDENT VOTERS ARE ABANDONING CHRISTIE BECASUE HE ABANDONED THEM!
Corzine
You people are not going to get everything you want. Cut to the chase, who will listen to your gripes if elected Corzine or Christie? Christie is a politician and he knows he has to run in the middle to win in NJ,
THATS A FACT and a REALITY.
You can't change anything until you first WIN to get in there. I respect all the hard working Lonegan supporters, I am one myself, but come on! This is an election we can win.
To pick and choose every issuse not to support Christie at this point is only helping Corzine. You might not get everything you want with Christie but you will get Corruption cleaned up and taxes cut.
Party Politics suck at times but thats nothing new.
NJ is busted, broken,, and bankrupt!
You put Corzine back in, you might as well put your "for sale" sign up.A Republican or for that matter a conservative wil never win in NJ again.
Having principals is important and defines a person's character, but poltics is dirty, tricky, and ugly. Vote for Christie and then hold his feet to the fire. Letting Corzine squeek back in because of some ruffled feathers is not going to help our kids or our future. We all have to suck it up sometimes...
In Depth Analysis of this Poll
Here is a key factor in analyzing this poll.
Among independents who make up the largest voting block in New Jersey representing over 2 million registered independents Christie is leading with 49% to 24% for Corzine. This would give Christie a huge lead among independent voters. Corzine is now only getting 68% of Democratic voters. With that level of suppport from Democrats he cannot overcome Christie's large lead among independents. The poll also shows Christie leading by 14% among male voters with Corzine having a much smaller lead 8% among female voters. The poll seems to show an oversampling of female voters. Also their is a new twist in that it now appears that Daggett is drawing more Democrats from Corzine than Daggett is drawing from Christie. Although the numbers look close it spells bad news for Jon Corzine.

Calling Christie corrupt is both slanderous and a complete falsehood. Chris Christie has put more politicians both Democrat and Republican in jail than any other U.S. attorney in the history of New Jersey. He is an honest man. He cleaned up the mess that was created at UMDNJ and cleaned house in that corrupt stronghold. These are the facts so lets stick with it. Daggett is probably on Jon Corzine's payroll and is in the race to divide the anti-Corzine vote. Hopefully New Jersy voters will see through this masquerade and vote for the honest man Chris Christie.
Daggett SHOULD Fade...
...but running an ad attacking Daggett was not a smart thing to do. He is not a viable candidate and running an attack ad against him lends him a degree of credibility he otherwise wouldn't have had.
Regardless of what Daggett does in the polls, this election is about Jon Corzine, not Chris Daggett.
The Christie campaign and RGA need to focus their attacks on Corzine. Once they do, Daggett will fade the way he's supposed to.
Leave the Daggett attacks to the blogosphere.
"Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do."- Benjamin Franklin
Why do they keep calling
Why do they keep calling these polls a "dead heat?" Christie's ahead - it may be within the margin of error, but Christie's ahead. Daggett won't get 19% - people say they'll vote for him, but they won't actually turn up and do it. Christie only needs to win by 1 vote - Corzine's under 40%. That's an appropriate place for a disgraceful incumbent who can only run ads after 4 failed years in office making fun a Christie's fat a$$ rather than talking about his own dismal record.
Bill Patrick
Just because he put crooked politicians in jail don't make him honest.
Calling Christie Corrupt is not slanderous its the truth and well documented. Just about every day there is a new scandal about him. Mafia Connections, using the AG office for political gain, not disclosing loans, not paying taxes, his connection to the mafia, pay to play, paying off prosecutors with multi-million dollar contracts not prosecute his brother.
Christie to crooked company, "Give my ex-boss $52 million to monitor to you so you don't commit your crimes again and I won't Prosecute"
Crooked company "Deal"
I call that extortion.
Don't give me that crap that not prosecuting saved thousands of jobs either. These people commit hideous crimes and don't get prosecuted.
When a normal citizen doesn't pay they taxes they go to Jail. When a normal citizen drives without registration and insurance they go to Jail. Christie... nada.
Futhermore, Chris Daggett nailed Christie and Corzine for corruption in 3rd Debate

Mafia connections? Care to back that up with any evidence?
"Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do."- Benjamin Franklin
Mafia Connections
Evidence? I guess reading only GOP headlines makes you miss out on the real news stories.
Christie brushes aside distant link to mobster Philadelphia Inquirer
NYT: Distant Christie Family Has Ties to Mafia Main Justice
Chris Christie's campaign deals with family link to mobster, report says NJ.com (blog)
For Christie Mafia Family Tie No Candidate Can Relish New York Times
Christie and Giuliani Both Share Mob Family Ties -- And Not Coming Clean About It Village Voice
You can read all of of the above or you can read Christie Tied To Mafia: Christie Family In Mob which sums them all up and also points to some more corruption and unethical scandals that you may not know about Christie.
Seriously, why do you think Daggett voters are so resistant to voting for Christie. It certainly isn't because we love Corzine and want him back in office. Its because a vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil. If the GOP had nominated Lonegan this would have been a landslide election and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
alexhiggins732
That's your evidence? He had a relative who got arrested when he was a kid??? That's garbage. If there were any merit to your foolish accusations, Jon Corzine would've spent millions pasting it all over the airwaves.
BTW, Nice job citing the Village Voice as a, "credible source". You are soooooo not a hack.
"Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do."- Benjamin Franklin
Village Voice??
Hahhaha
Now I heard everything. You quote the Village voice for factual information???
Go smoke some more of the good suff...
I have read that Corzine and Daggett are child molestors
Village Voice reported that recently.
Daggett Was Appointed to A Position by Corzine
Seems like a conflict to me. See this link to understand who Daggett owes favors to.
http://www.state.nj.us/dep/permittf/members.html
140,000 Lonegan voters leaning to Daggett
No one likes to be disrespected. No one likes to be told to shut up,sit down, and just vote for me.
Lonegan supporters will AND ARE moving to Daggett.
The Republican Party establishment has abandoned them . Lonegan supporters owe the GOP nothing!
So take 140,000 votes out of the Christie column and put the min the Daggett column.
Get your facts correct
The sources are the Village Voice, NY Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, NJ.com and the list goes on and on and on.
Even Christie has acknowledged the ties but has tried to down play time. And "A family member that was arrested when he was a boy." Way to spin the story...
Read the story...
Christie's Aunt was married to the organized crime family the Genovese crime family . The connection is with Tino Fiumara who has been convicted twice on racketeering charges and sentenced to 25 years in federal prison. Fiumara also has been linked by investigators to several grisly murders, The Times reported. It is also common knowledge the members of the mafia marry into other families with mafia connections.
Christie told The Times he learned of Fiumara's involvement in organized crime in 1977, when Christie was 15 and Fiumara was 36, by reading The Star-Ledger of New Jersey. The limited interaction between Christie and Fiumara over the past 30 years included the two bumping into each other once in the mid-1990s at a restaurant and a scheduled encounter in 1991. Both encounters occurred before Christie became New Jersey's top prosecutor in 2002.
But there are two recorded incidents of Christie Meeting with his mafia family... what else isn't he telling us?. The restaurant meeting occurred when Fiumara was out on parole. The scheduled encounter occurred when Christie visited Fiumara, at the request of Christie's uncle, in a Texas prison, Christie told The Times. "My best recollection is we updated each other on what was going on with the family," Christie told The Times. "It was not a very long visit."
Christie claims that he had limited interaction with this mafia family member. But why did a US Attorney General and Candidate for governor have a cloak and dagger meeting with a man who he knew was in the mafia for at least 1 years since he first read about it in 1977?.
Furthermore, just think about the statement. I went to visit a member of the mob to "discuss the family". Its bad enough NJ is known as the Soprano state. The corruption and scandal in our state has already gone to far and WE DONT NEED THE MOB CONNECTIONS OF CHRIS CHRISTIE RUNNING THIS STATE.
And just because Corzine didn't attack this story doesn't mean it's not true. It could very well be that Corzine has his own skeletons he doesn't want to come out...
I'm not voting for Christie
The guy is a complete idiot. So what if he lowers your taxes. Bush lowered taxes and it did nothing for anybody and we were left with a bigger deficit than we started out with. He won't cut a single thing or go after any unions. Christie is gonna be just like Bush for this state but more liberal. Its between Daggett and Cozine for me. Corzine might be corrupt, but he's not completely retarded like Christie is. Although, Daggett is probably gonna be my choice.
Christie can't cut taxes its a lie
Seroiusly, stop trying to kid yourself Christie can't cut taxes. Even if you don't like Daggett he is at least one politician who is telling you the truth.
How is Christie going to go to Trenton and make spending cuts and Tax cuts across the board? It will never happen with a Democratic legislature.
Then he would have to deal with the Voter backlash. Corzine is already attacking his plan saying it hurts kids with special needs, like autistic kids. You think voters are going to put up an across the board cut of vital services. NO WAY.
Christie has no plan. Corzine's is more of the same. Only Daggett has a plan
And Daggett's plan will work. If it wouldn't the GOP would be all over it. The best attack they could come up with? Call it a tax hike.
Daggett's plan is not a tax hike. At the end of the day the same amount of taxes are being payed, except $4 billion being collected from property taxes is now collected from sales tax.
The advantages of collecting that $4 Billion from sales tax instead of property tax is huge
It enables a 25% cut in property tax, income tax, and corporate tax. People are made about their property taxes now.
What happens when the economy turns and the property tax rebates disappear? It would be the same thing as a 25% increase in every one's property tax bill. Daggett's plan makes the tax cut permanent, meaning you don't have to worry about you property taxes going up when the Gov't rebates disappear
Also, shifting where the tax comes from means an Income Tax Cut (Yeah that's for you and me and everyone, not just home owners) and a corporate tax cut.
The combination of the tree will help NJ get off the bottom of those "Worst Business Climate" and "Worst tax climate" in the nation lists. It will hamper the skyrocketing cost of living and make NJ an affordable place to do business.
If we don't get the mess under control, we will experience what the manufacturing industry has in the US. It has all but disappeared and moved to other countries with more business friendly and tax friendly policies. The same will happen to NJ JOBS if we don't act.
But the GOP can't come up with a plan. All they can do is attack, attack, attack. Daggett is this, Daggett is that..
Christie will not win an election if he can't talk issues. Why, because he needs to bow down to special interests and his political party.
Daggett doesn't have any special interest group holding him on a leash. No unions make backdoor deals and no corrupt politicians in his campaign/ list of friends and cronies that he needs to put into office if he gets elected.
Why? His campaign is entirely shoe string and grassroots. People like me who aren't afraid to say no to politics as usual. People like me who refuse to vote for the lesser of evils because it is still a vote for evil.
Christie has self destructed. His polls are going straight down. So if you want Corzine out of office, you need to get off Christie's sinking ship and Get on Daggett's
A Vote for Christie is a Vote For Corzine. Christie can not win. He can not attract enough alienated Democrats or alienated Republicans to win. Daggett Can.
And that's pretty sad looking at the Governor's approval ratings. Daggett can win. At least 20% us strongly believe in him, unlike the "not the other guy" protest votes that the Corzine and Christie have.
