Republicans are accusing Gov. Jon Corzine of playing election year politics by economic development statistics after a top aide e-mailed cabinet members asking them to demonstrate some creativity by identifying places where the administration created private sector jobs.
"Now we have proof of what we have suspected for a long time -- the Corzine Administration is politicizing official State business to distort the true state of the economy to the benefit his campaign," said Assemblyman Jay Webber (R-Morris Plains), the GOP State Chairman.
Webber says that e-mail, written by Corzine Deputy Chief of Staff Mark Matzen, follows "highly suspicious and wildly optimistic job-creation statistics produced in consecutive months by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development." Matzen cited those numbers in his e-mail.
Webber wants Corzine's staff to "cease all political work" and says the governor must disclose correspondence and communications between Matzen and the fourteen department heads who received the e-mail.
"It's very concerning that Governor Corzine appears to be using taxpayer-funded government workers to help assemble campaign-type events for his election," said Bill Stepien, campaign manager for Corzine's Republican opponent, Christopher Christie. "The Governor has some serious questions to answer."

More nonsense from Frick and Frack
Corzine complaining about Christie Being fat. Christie complaining about photo-ops and emails. Both candidates can do little more than to sidetrack voter's from the fact they both duck the issues and offer no real plan. Why not write about the issue that matter, like the plaque of corruption and scandal that has been brought on our state or how you plan on dealing with the exodus of business, residents and income from our state? No let's complain about photo-ops, emails and people being fat. However, as echoed by the Star Ledger endorsement of Chris Daggett, we finally have chance to change all of this.NJ voter's are the only ones that have the power to change our government I am working hard to spread that message and so can you. Click here to learn how.
Ok Alex....Daggett has made his $$& off of us
Daggett has made a great living over the last 6 years helping to develop NJ's so called " Brown fields". If you had an environmental issue in the state, it's become an accepted fact that the best way to " expedite" the issue---the firm that was best "connected" was none only alleged independent Chris Daggett. He is the only guy in his field, that people know will get an immediate audience with Jon Corzine. On multiple occasions, Daggett made a problem that had been stuck for a long time, go away in days. He's bragged to many before his "independence", that he could get a meeting with the sitting Gov within 48 hours.
Now he his independence...he is nothing but part of the problem. This guy is a hypocrit of the highest order.
What non sense
Why don't you back that up?
Daggett is the resident expert and has been going back 20 years. And not because he is corrupt, but because he is an expert.
If you're afraid that a vote for Daggett is a Vote for Corzine, don't be because the polls show Daggett is hurting Corzine and putting Christie ahead.
See this Daggett Hurts Corzine and Helps Christie
You can be sure that you don't waste your vote by making the I'll vote for Dagget pledge.
The Daggett pledge is based on a simple premise, if enough people pledge their vote then you will vote for Daggett
