Biden motorcade, enroute to Corzine kickoff, closes Lincoln Tunnel, N.J. Turnpike, and Route 280

The Lincoln Tunnel, the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 280 were closed for more than thirty minutes during rush hour this evening for Vice President Joseph Biden's motorcade, according to traffic reports from CBS 880 AM and WINS 1010 AM.  Biden was traveling to Gov. Jon Corzine's campaign kickoff in West Orange after spending today in New York.

The road closures could potentially delay commuters seeking to return to New Jersey before the polls close at 8PM this evening.

Last week, State Sen. Kevin O'Toole (R-Cedar Grove) criticized Corzine for holding his Election Day event at the Richard Codey Arena, which is also a polling place.  Because political activity is barred from a polling location, Essex County officials were forced to relocate the voting machines.

Is anyone shocked at Biden's behavior?

Maybe we can agree on this.

Very bad decision making on the part of Biden and Corzine. Some NYC commuters were very definitely delayed from getting out of the city and voting in northern NJ.

NJN news

It's 830 and this wind bag is still talking.
NJN let the dems schedule this guy right in the middle of election results.
What a set up and BTW he is saying complete utter fabrications about Jon Corzine.

RRRRRRRRRRRR

Not Unusal

For Corzine to screw the public - was the Biden Motorcade Speeding with Flashing Lights to get there?

Oh

Oh please. Bringing star power to a campaign rally is nothing new. GWB was here, and Dick Cheney was here for Tom Kean holding everything up.

Off to an appropriate start

The Corzine campaign starts off with a speech by Joe Biden, a guy who's best known for saying dumb things. The dumb thing he says tonight is: vote for Corzine.

In the process, Corzine shows the same contempt for commuters that he did with his massive toll hikes. He has strangled and backed up traffic tonight almost as thoroughly as the state's economy. At least he's consistent.

let biden campaign for

let biden campaign for corzine all he wants lol!

um

Biden and Obama have wonderful numbers in NJ, and amongst independants...the GOP does not want to see them here

They keep holding up

traffic everytime they come and the GOP will be flying them in.

Bumbling Biden

Had Biden any common sense he should have flown through Mercer Airport and avoided holding up people in the Lincoln Tunnel which without any roadblocks is still crowded that time of day.

Biden/Corzine/Codey trap thousands in West Orange

And then they compound the problem by closing 280 for 45 minutes after all the BS at the South Mountain Arena. But I guess that's OK - they're all sucking up to DICK Codey, and that's why the WOPD stupidly trapped people in West Orange until long after Joe had cleared the area. They wouldn't even let people cross over 280 on foot!!! I love Jersey, but it's pretty bad when we only have a choice between Corzine & Christie, both pretty bad, but better than Lonegan or the other idiot mayor from Glen Ridge.
