This kind of talk doesn't serve a purpose. A few days ago I got an email from Lonegan's campaign saying that the teacher's union was "the enemy." Now it's the LWV. How do conservatives convince people to take us seriously when Steve drives people away like this?
I serve on my local school board, and we (sometimes) disagree in private, but we are always courteous and professional in public. This kind of negative talk simply hurts the movement Steve wants to represent.

On not allowing an extreme liberal advocacy group to determine the questions and moderate a debate between two people that they and their membership have no intention of voting for and will in fact work to defeat in November.

Same post as before, I would no more expect conservatives to debate in front of this group then I would expect liberals in their primary to go before the NRA.

Hey willmonk, a School Board discussion is not a private affair. You are doing the business of the public and backroom discussions and hiding this from the public is not what you are supposed to be doing. Private businesses can operate that way but not a School Board.

Every government body is required by law to discuss some matters in private. The issue here is courtesy. No one can deliberately insult others and expect to be elected to an office as serious as governor.

Sometimes there is no nice way to tell someone something or tell someone something about a groups of someones.

The teacher's unions are keeping our kids from learning. THEY $%^& STINK! They are incompetant and for the most part could care less about the education system and only care about their own job security for a lousy job at that.

They need to go, and there is no "nice" way to say it.

So, Steve "Lispy" Lonegan won't take questions posed by moderators that MIGHT HOLD POLITICAL POSITIONS to the left of Steve's perception of 'Republican' positions?

First of all, since when is Lonegan a Republican? Isn't Lonegan the same clown REFUSING to compete for the GOP line? But now he is offended by taking questions from someone who isn't a Republican? Now he is running scared refusing to even debate the Republican front-runner?

Lispy won't even respond to questions from the very same voters he will have to 'win over' to win in November? April Fools, right? RIGHT?!?!

So, Steve, you and your neckbearded supporters are a disgrace. You are all clearly tools of the Democrats. You take OUR tax dollars and run negative radio ads attacking Christie. All the while refusing to stand and face him. Disgraceful.

Unable to attack Lonegan's record or where he stands, they devolve into silly personal attacks.

Behind the Christie bravado is a campaign in total panic. If you think the personal attacks against Lonegan are bad on April 3, wait til May 3 or May 30th.

Prersonal attacks--how dare you. Your campaign and YOUR campaign ALONE have sent out: negative mailers,negative radio pieces, negative robo calls, sent out negative e-mails, had pure nuts like Rich LaRossa and Seth Grossman spreading lies and distortions. How about you disclose how much $$$ the Democrats are paying you? A nice law suit is heading your way shortly. You are not in Bogota where no one cares how much you lie and distort. You should have kept the last 2 campaign managers happy---they are spilling their guts and handing over e-mails.

Republicans have been undermined at debates for years by moderators that have had their own agenda. In a debate only between Republicans, I would hope they would get a moderator that actually understands what issues are important to Republicans.

Sponsorship of a debate involves hanging a banner in the middle of a fricken stage.  That's it.

The questions are asked by journalists. of course they are left wing rabble rousers too but they are the ones asking the questions regardless of the sponsor. Even if the sponsor controlled the questions, which it doesn't. they are just questions. Debates are about answers. Is steve suggesting the sponsor has any influence over what he says?

This is more excellent strategery by Shaftan who apparently could screw up a one car motorcade. Let's antagonize and alienate women voters cause, y'know, we don't need them in November.

FRankly, the Christie camp should be more panicked about whether Chris should wear a red tie or a striped tie tomorrow than it should be about anything that Lonegan's campaign is doing. Lonegan is getting absolutely no traction anywhere and is desperately trying to manufacture an issue. The tenor of his/Shaftan's campaign too date has been nothing short of disgraceful.

The over/under for the Lonegan vote is probably under 20% right now.

. . . is (1) not showing up at debates and making up lame excuses about how the moderator might be 'biased'; (2) running scared from county conventions - even in those counties where anyone with $10 can vote (so you can't argue that some magical County Chair is forcing people to vote a certain way); and (3) getting out-fundraised at least 2-1 even though you have been campaigning for this job for four years.

By the way, if 'Lispy' Longean is too scared to face a mean, mean (old lady) moderator why do we think he is going to have the backbone to stand up to the 'entrenched' Trenton interests? Hmm?

Oh that's right, Lispy is really only good for lawsuits, cheap stunts, and mind-numbingly boring verbal dissertations on 'the collapse.' Actually facing down a rival and standing on his convictions? Not so much.

Do you Christie people even understand your own liberalism. Saying that Lonegan should not go in front of the league of woman voters does not insult women. Does this group represent all women? Like the NAACP represents all Black Americans, or how about NOW, or the reverse, does Project 21 represent all Black Americans, or Independent Women's forum represent all Women? You leftists in our party are too much to deal with sometimes in your illogic.

This is an organization that works for, votes for, and works to elect DEMOCRATS. Therefore, it is perfectly reasonable for a REPUBLICAN to NOT want them to run a debate between two REPUBLICANS. Did any of you see the VEEP debate with the Obama author, how did that one go?!

I am so sorry this is such a difficult concept. But this is just like Obama, if you do not like him you are obviously racist. If you do not want a liberal woman's group to moderate a debate then you are obviously against women voting?! PLEASE!

Once again we have former Mayor Steve Lonegan fighting for conservative values while Chris Christie, the former one-term freeholder hides from public comment.

While Christie wants to include candidates not registering at least 1% suppport from GOP primary voters to avoid a one on one contest with the former mayor, Lonegan is simply asking that a Republican moderate a Republican primary debate.

Why should Mayor Lonegan absorb the political bias of the LOWV? A political fringe group full of leftists who mask themselves under the guise of objectivity?

I goated the oc into defending Barney Frank. I mentioned the prostitution ring, and the oc jumped eagerly to his defense.

 Actually yes I would, as should you.  Protocol dictates that you refer to them as their previous title.  I have met former Governor Kean on a number of occasions, and have always been respectful and called him "Governor".  In the same vein, we should call him Mayor Lonegan.  Doesn't matter what you think of him, the man earned his title and deserves to be addressed as such.

Case has been virtually stalking Mayor Lonegan on this BLOG for months. He hates the guy. He hates his political consultant which makes his views all the more unusal.

How do you hate someone's political advisor?

What Republican admits voting for LBJ, calls Ronald Reagan a fraud and says he would vote for Corzine. I've seen that "Wingnut" sobriquet used in only two other places: bloggers at Daily Kos and The Huffington Post. I woud't be surprised if "Clifford Case" is an embittered Old Hippie Chick on Obama's payroll via ACORN.

The League is, as MAYOR (and, yes, that's the appropriate title, and anyone who doesn't know that knows nothing about political etiquette) Lonegan suggests, nothing more than a liberal advocacy group, which has been on the wrong -- i.e. Democratic -- side of every issue for the last 40 years. 

 Let the Chamber, or a group somewhat more conducive to Republican ideas host the event. 

During the Democratic Presidential Primary season just last year, Dem's refused to debate on Fox News because they claimed Fox to be right wing. Why should the GOP allow a left-wing group to run a GOP debate?

Calling Steve Lonegan "Mayor Lonegan" is a befitting honirific. He was, and should be remembered for, being the mayor of one of the perennially 'last ranked' and crappiest towns in Bergen County. Yay! As Mayor, he did much to stir the pot and challenge McDonald's right to free speech ("Mayor" Lonegan believed that it was his right as Mayor to tell a tax-paying business what language their signs could be in). What else he did no one has any idea and who the eff cares anyway?

I won a cooking competition in 7th grade home ec. therefore, I demand that anyone responding to this post call me "Master Chef BergenRulz."

I also won the wing-eating competition at Chartwells at Rowan College. So, if you don't want to call me 'Master Chelf BergenRulz", you can call me 'Wingmaster Rulz."

You don't know much about GOP primary voters who don't like being dictated too. But someome pretending to be a Republican is a game that's gone on long enough.

When Lonegan begins to move the dial in the next wave of polls with more than sixty days to go, you'll be in the shock of your life unless you believe the conventional wisdom of the liberal left than Lonegan can't win the general.

The easy part is the general. The hard part is now. Something Corzine does not understand.

Um, ah, er, Mr Ruiz, someone can correct me if I am wrong, and I am absolutly no fan of the man, but is not Ron Paul called Doctor bacause he is an MD!  If this is the case then he has several more years of education past most of us, myself included, and has earned that title.

I hate to tell you Rick Shaftan aka Mountaintop, but a Freeholder in Morris County represents more people than a mayor in 8,000 resident town named Bogota. So which is more important? And no - you don't use the highest elected position. His title is US Attorney - a US Senate confirmed position. Ever hear people continually referred to as Ambassador? Another embarrassing foot in mouth moment. You are a major reason Lonegan is unelectable.
