With new polls released by Quinnipiac University and Rasmussen Reports, Fairleigh Dickinson University decided to re-release their March 4 poll on the New Jersey gubernatorial primaries this morning. The data in their previous poll appears to be the same as the one released today.
So that data is the same:
Former U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie leads Steve Lonegan, the former Bogota Mayor, 43%-15%. Franklin Mayor Brian Levine and Assemblyman Rick Merkt (R-Mendham) trail far behind at 2% and 1% respectively. These numbers mirror an FDU poll that was already released this month and may contain the same data.
In the Democratic primary, Gov. Jon Corzine leads Carl Bergmanson, the former Mayor of Glen Ridge, 59%-2%. Jeff Boss, who ran as an Independent candidate for President and U.S. Senate in 2008, is also at 2%, and Perth Amboy Councilman Ken Balut, who says he has decided not to enter the Democratic primary, is at 1%.
Corzine leads Senate President Richard Codey 51%-32% in a hypothetical Democratic primary matchup. Codey, who served as Governor from 2004 to 2006, has not been contemplating a gubernatorial bid this year.
