The 3rd district congressional race between Democrat John Adler and Republican Christopher Myers is a statistical dead heat, according to a Zogby International poll conducted by The Press of Atlantic City and The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. More than 16% of the voters poll remain undecided, with each candidate at 39%. Adler, a State Senator from Camden County, and Myers, the Mayor of Medford, are seeking the seat of Republican Jim Saxton, who is retiring after 24 years in the House. Republicans have held this seat since 1884.
Third district voters are also split on races for President and U.S. Senate: Barack Obama, 45%, John McCain, 44%; and Dick Zimmer, 45%, Frank Lautenberg 44%.
In the 2nd district, seven-term U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo has a 59%-29% lead over his Democratic challenger, Cape May Councilman David Kurkowsi. Democrat Rob Andrews, who wants to return to the House seat he's held since 1990 after losing a U.S. Senate bid, leads Republican Dale Glading by 51 points, 69%-18%.

5 pieces of Nasty Postal Mail from Adler, Enough !!!!!!
Today I received 5 pieces of mail from Adler. Not one thing was about what he plans to do for us, if he wants our vote. Nothing about Veterans Care a lot of stuff about wasteful pork. All negative stuff. Sorry. Today I was looking up some other information on the web and I found this article. So much about the pork stuff in the mailings today, South Jersey did very well for hospital care. Please reference the following link http://www.house.gov/saxton/press2003-6/pr031122NJhospitals50M.html Saxton, LoBiondo Land $50 M+ for New Jersey Hospitals. I think that is pretty good pork, don’t you think? I hate the word pork, because it is so misleading.
Pork is defined by Encarta’ as U.S. government money and jobs awarded by politicians to their supporters or constituents to win their favor, especially when awarded wastefully. We all were winners on that annual funding. Thank You, Congressmen Jim Saxton (NJ-3rd )and Frank LoBiondo (NJ-2nd).
not a hard choice
That Chris Myers is a formidable opponent is obvious. But to say that John Adler is the superior candidate in this congressional race is an understatement. Adler had economic relief plans and health care reforms proposed months before Myers, at a time when the Republican was still claiming that the economy was "basically strong."
There's reason why the Press of Atlantic City endorsement of Adler, besides rightly mentioning Myers' relentless negativity in this race, stated that Myers provided the same "bromides" on the Iraq War as the president. Someone needs to clue Myers in to the idea that an endless, open-ended commitment in Iraq does not constitute a sound, or even sane, foreign policy. Myers seemingly makes no differentiation between Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds and other ethnic groups in Iraq; to him, they're all just "terrorists" over there who must be defeated or they'll come over here. This simpleton foreign policy isolates how profoundly disturbing Myers' vision for Iraq truly is.
Adler's work in the state senate has been constructive, and he writes his own legislation because he's so talented and well-versed in law. Adler's legislation, from his "A" rating on environmental issues to his anti-smoking ban to his law that revoked pensions for public employees convicted of crimes, has made workplaces safer for New Jersey employees, promoted clean, renewable energy practices, and made the state more transparent in governance. The time is now to elect Adler to Congress and make a clean break from the failed policies that have hampered this country for the past eight years.
MartinOne - the Kool-aid you are drinking is obviously spiked!
"...pensions for public employees convicted of crimes, has made workplaces safer for New Jersey employees, promoted clean, renewable energy practices, and made the state more transparent in governance."
Are you joking? Adler has proved he is beholden to the bosses -- why hasn't "Acting President Jean Fox" had her confirmation hearings yet? As taxpayers/ratepayers we deserve some stability in our government representatives. This administration has played a consistent game of musical chairs at our expense and have denied us the right to a qualified, demonstrated experienced cabinet e.g., Abelow, 2006 State Treasurer with a high-school diploma. John Adler has put off the hearings for Jean Fox pending a Whistleblower Civil Suit. Why? Her incompentence will prevail regardless of the outcome of this Civil Suit! Myers has it over Adler 10 fold!
Hmm
What the hell does a statement like "Myers has it over Adler 10 fold" even mean?
Adler wrote the state's toughest anti-corruption laws. There's no doubt about that. On the Jean Fox issue, would you rather Adler hold the hearings and have the Dems try to push through her nomination before the end of her trial? Adler's doing the right thing to get all of the information before the hearing.
And what are you talking about with Brad Abelow? The guy went to Northwestern, got an MBA from Yale, and worked as an executive at Goldman Sachs for years. I don't know what else you want in terms of quality and experience for a state treasurer.
Don't pretend this is Adler's administration in Trenton. It's not. It's Corzine's.
Adler has consistently fought for the hard-working families of South Jersey. Adler has consistently been an independent voice with strong convictions and ideas. Go ask the Courier Post, Press of AC, Philadelphia Inquirer, Burlington County Times, Teamsters, Firefighters, Police Officers, Sierra Club, AFL-CIO, and various other groups.
My winner predictions for NJ:
Obama, Lautenberg (easy one), Adler, and Lance
Adler is Done
According to a few very reliable sources, last week on the QT the DCCC pulled out all of the money for Adler in an abrut move. I heard this came on the heels of Adler being trounced in Ocean by over 17 percent.
Ocean has been polling for weeks, and Myers keeps gaining ground. Burlco is moving towards Myers and because of the number of voters, any lead Adler has from Cherry Hill is diminished big time by Ocean County
It's over
It's over - Myers wins. this poll is troubling to a campaign that spent $3 million, had a 18 year incumbent state Senator running, and the DCCC bailing on him at the last minute. Alice now says Myers is a formidable opponent. Gee - that head in the sand non-district living liberal has yet to get a thing right. Less than two weeks ago he or she (depending on ladies night at the local bar) has been saying what a weak candidate Myers was. Another Sybil moment? Despite the lies from Tinker Bell, iamreallyjustabigcrybabyknownothing oc, Andy and lilsurfergurl, the NRCC has gotten involved - three quarters of a million to date and they spent more than the DCCC last week on the race. Nice to see the DCCC abandon Adler. About time. Johnny Bye Bye.
Yes
Also it is utterly sad and disgusting that people are stil backing that lyingsackofhorsechit Andrews again.
This man Andrews is the consumate egotistical lying bag of pus that is so desperate to keep his seat because poor little Robby wont have a title anymoit,re is proof that voters are stupid. They dont care and then they scream and cry when things do not go their way!
Think about it, I have said before that with all the money Adler has spent and thinking his name would catapult him in a landslide has horribly backfired; that lead in Ocean proved to everyone that Adler is not liked and that there is a huge problem. The DCCC does not bail unless they know their numbers are not good.
Bail?
You two are so full of it. Give us one source to show that the DCCC has bailed.
I've heard the exact opposite. I've heard rumors of a fantastically large ad-buy in the New York media market.
Only One Dead Thing Here
The only thing dead in this race is Myers. He should simply concede the election now. His message was one that the voters did not like and would not buy. He is out of touch and should be put out of commission just like the Coast Guard ships built by his employer in the Deep Water program. They won't float and neither will Myers.
Yes Bailed
The DCCC has thrown their money into campaigns like Murtha and Stender. But even now, Stender is like Adler, gasping for air.
Indie OC, you have proven over and over again how clueless you are about this race. From day one, you refused to comprehend how this was going to go, and now with Adler trailing by over 17/% in Ocean, and Myers ahead by 2 pts in Burlco, it is not in Adler's favor.
Big deal, he wins Cherry Hill, whooo hooo! One township compared to a entire County that is safe for Myers. Again, all the money, lies and fraud cannot pull Adler across the line
And
Back in June, Indie OC and others were crowing about how Adler will trample Myers, win in a landslide because he is Adler, etc etc etc, bla bla bla.
Lets see, it is now 3 days out from the election, Adler has spent millions, has the lions share of endorsements and yet can only claim Cherry Hill a township as his only real win now. With Ocean County having Myers up by over 17% and Burlco having Myers up by 2, only proves right now what we have been saying, Adler is a trenton politican who is out of touch with mainstream politics.
re: "it's over"
An unwise poster on this board, one who seriously claimed that McCain was actively competing for N.J.'s electoral votes, considers the Adler-Myers race to be over -- this despite Adler's massive fundraising advantage, an 11k advantage for Dems in district 3, an anti-Republican year, and Obama coattails.
Let's instead look at the facts: According to today's Washington Post, "John Adler, a state senator from Cherry Hill, has strong party backing and has assembled one of the best field organizations in the country against Chris Myers." Meanwhile, the Evans-Novak report states, "signs increasingly point in Adler's direction,” and The Pindell report states that Adler is absolutely going "to Congress." Further contrasting with Adler's advantage in this district is comparing the snoozefest of no volunteers for Myers vs. a massive group of volunteers, including Young Democrats of America, for Adler. Myers, of course, can't even afford to put up an office in Ocean County, and only has had a fraction, perhaps a third at most, of t.v. ads in comparison with Adler.
The last three polls for the district: Adler +8 (DCCC), Myers+1.4 (Stockton), Adler+.3 (PofAC). The average of those three polls is over +6% for Adler.
But two Myers apologists on this thread still somehow think that Myers has the race in the bag -- this despite Adler having five times the newspaper endorsements and a host of other facts previously mentioned. Comfortable delusions, indeed.
Adler is done
Yes Alice. He is done. $3 million spent and he can't get the job done? Embarrassing. And yes - ignored. Clinton comes into NJ and ignores him. Van Hollen comes into NJ and ignores him. He can't get two heavyweights to assist him? The DCCC knows it is over. I doubt they will spend money on tv but even if they do - too little too late. Why not wait until November 5th? You have a better chance then. Martin (can't believe I called you by your first name - were your parents pissed at you when they named you that?) - how does it feel to call 5 losing campaigns in a row? You are correct zero percent of the time. Please continue to spout your bs - we all know you know nothing. Johnny Bye Bye. Which lame one hit wonder will you retort with next? I am privy to a new poll which I am happy to discuss tomorrow. It is over. Enjoy the games.
PS
PS - nice lie - again. Pindell called it lean dem. He is wrong as you are. He never said "absolutely." Wolf wolf. Sorry Red Riding Hood. Keep getting my fairy tales mixed up.
Saturday we received 4 more pieces of mail from the Adler Camp
Saturday we received 4 more pieces of mail from the Adler Camp, Enough Please. P. S. the print was so small on some of them,I could not read all them without glasses. It is such a turn off, and some of the facts are based as if Myers was in office already. What is that all about? You have Myers tied to a voting record, making NRC decisions. That being said, I have to congratulate Adler for finally Putting an Obama’s sign in his Holiday City Office (Senior Community) Front Window, so you can see it when you drive past his office. It appears if America does not play the race card, he will be the next President. America needs change, in many directions, I believe we need some type of protectionism strategy in this country to our natural resources, borders and Energy. Neither candidate at all levels talked about American Dollars being spent in the future in detail with the following in concern, I strongly feel the companies cannot sell to a Foreign nation, that receive tax payer’s money and that we buy anything related to military be tied to an overseas company, I.e. Airbus contract which is pending and electronic equipment etc. , Neither candidate really talked about redoing the trade agreements in detail or what party supports what, or even a common sense tax base, just general (I guess I like pie charts) or even our economy infrastructure. At election time you never know who is going to win until all the votes are counted. This election across the board, is the most uninformed America going into the election booths, they are going in with misconceptions, no wonder the rest of the world is losing trust in our country. I will make a promise that if someone comes up to me while I am waiting in line at the polls no matter how far I am from the booth or entrance, and utilizes scare tactics, I will record them and file a law suit and let the public know. This has happened to me twice. This time, After I vote, I will make a citizen arrest. I find that offensive and abusive. I did not go into the service to support these kinds of tactics.
