James sentencing on Tuesday
By EditorFormer Newark Mayor Sharpe James, who was convicted on federal corruption charges in June, will be sentenced at 10 AM Tuesday is U.S. District Judge William Martini’s courtroom. James faces a prison sentence of four to seven years, according to federal sentencing guidelines.
State Sen. Shirley Turner (D-Lawrence) was among a group who have asked Martini to go easy on James, who served in the Senate from 1999 to 2008. A group of five GOP Senators also wrote seeking an imposition of the maximum sentence.
