The Fraternal Order of Police - New Jersey State Lodge (NJFOP) has endorsed the re-election of every incumbent Congressman except Republican Rodney Frelinghuysen, and is backing Camille Andrews, John Adler and Linda Stender, all Democrats, for open House seats.
"These individuals understand what is needed to keep our communities and neighborhoods safe from crime," said NJFOP President Edward R. Brannigan. "We are asking our members to support and activity work on behalf of these outstanding candidates for Congress."

Camille Andrews?
She's not even running. That's pathetic.
Adler opposes 2nd amendment rights
is the F.O.P turning into the liberal GESTAPO ? Someone please send them a copy of he constitution , plain english version please
Camille
Wow. Tells you all you need to know about the political arm of the FOP. Shameful...
Endorsements in the 3rd
Adler: The Sierra Club, The Recreational Fishing Alliance, (and now) The Fraternal Order of Police
Myers: *sound of crickets*
this IS pathetic
It's such a sham. Oh well, that's the FOP.
Ummm
Since when do many endorsements automatically ensure a victory? Not all union members back their unions on a "suggested" candidate because if that were true, then those candidates who have received the Lions Share of endorsements (like Susan Bass Levin against Saxton) and many others would have always won.
The true endorsement comes in the privacy of a voting booth on election day.
Dana Redd.
Why is law enforcement endorsing Dems? Aren't the US Attorney in NJ and the US Attorney General both Republicans? Hmmmm. Let me guess, there is a difference between indicting a 70 year old legislator and busting up a drug ring protected by a gang or cartel. There is no laughing during an arrest at the Alabama Housing projects in Paterson by the local, county, state, or federal law enforcement officers. Figure it out. Case closed.
FOP? Frat Order of Politics
Why would our Law Enforcement Community endorse a Tax and Spend State Senator? I guess the FOP does not mind that he cut aid to municipalities, which in turn will cause towns to cut police services, which means FOP members. I guess the leadership of the FOP really does not represent its members (like Carla Katz and her union).
The NJ Fraternal Order of Police has always stood for decency and for the working law enforcement officer... Now? I guess they are part of the Political Machine in Trenton.
The Law Enforcement Community will be sorry - like the residents of NJ, should Sen. Adler make it to Washinton.
well well well...
well let's see, if Sen. Adler is as bad as you claim he is, then it is really saying something about Chris Myers. If Adler really is a "tax spending Trenton politician" than what does that make Myers? Apparently it makes Myers worthless and not deserving of the position of United States Congressman. And, before everyone attacks Sen. Adler, I would suggest looking at Myers record as Mayor of Medford...tax increases is something quite familiar to him.
Look for more Union endorsements
Most of Labor Orgs will back Adler and Stender!
Well
Union endorsements did not help any of the democrats running in OC and Burlco last year did they?
FOP, Sierra Club, and other Orgs strongly backed the democrats up and down and they all lost.
Dennison, Riley, Fifis, Bodine, all lost with backings of the unions and other organizations.
Goes to show that endorsements really dont mean anything anymore.
I am a member of the FOP, I don't recall anyone asking
me who the organization should endorse. Brannigan used to be for the LEOs now he's for the je*koff politicians...

spin, spin, spin
I love pablo3/gopgal08's spin that the Democrats got "all" the endorsements in the statewide election, but subsequently lost. That's factually incorrect, as Haines got the AFL-CIO endorsement:
http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:1M1rP3Wheg0J:www.ualocal9.org/library/document-library/20070710142848.Endorsements6_13_07.pdf+union+endorsement+phil-haines&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us
That was a minor coup for him, as that organizational support gave him a core group of volunteers in the 8th district. Further, the GOP ticket got support from a local firefighters' union, among others.
Fast forward to 2008, where Myers finds himself facing a candidate with union, environmental, police, conservation, and other organizations' backing, combine that with the superiority of Adler as a candidate, an anti-Republican sentiment in the nation and district, and a massive, and I mean massive, cash advantage (2 million to 500k at best for Myers), among other factors, and you've got a perfect storm for Adler.
Myers
Of course Myers has endorsements. He will have the endorsements of the majority of the voters on election day and thats all that counts
Myers Wins
Hands Down!
Adler
Has a horrible record and the endorsements can't change that
Endorsements
I stand corrected Martin about Haines; thank you. But you have to know that endorsements are like opinions.
Do you remember several years ago when Bob Franks ran againt Corzine for US Senator? I googled some stuff and Franks not only got the majority of the press endorsements but many of the Unions and he still lost to Corzine.
I kinda have to wonder if the FOP jumped the gun?
Endorsements
If memory serves me correct - and it does - Susan Bass Levin, not only outraised and outspent Saxton in 2000, but received more endorsements than him as well. How well is her congresisonal career going?
Exactly My Point!
OC makes the valid point. What happened to her will happen to Adler. Voters in Ocean have and are strong, conservative GOP and will back Myers like they did Saxton. That hurt her more than anything else.
I seem to remember a last minute onslaught of ads from her on TV the weekened before the election which had to cost at least 2 mill alone.
Yet Another Endorsement
Endorsements:
Adler: Fraternal Order of Police, The Sierra Club, Recreational Fishing Alliance, (and now) The Teamsters Union
http://www.politickernj.com/adlerforcongress/21421/calling-john-adler-ch...
Myers: *deafening silence*, *sound of deep space yawning upon deep space*, *crickets chirping*
apples, oranges
From the oc/cowardly lion: "If memory serves me correct - and it does - Susan Bass Levin, not only outraised and outspent Saxton in 2000, but received more endorsements than him as well." Apples and oranges, cowardly lion. Bass Levin was running against a well-known, well-liked, and well-funded incumbent. Myers doesn't fit the bill for any of those descriptors and finds himself in a financial and endorsement hole that he won't be able to climb out of. In basic logic, you've committed the fallacy of false equivalencies: ideas that are given equal weight as substitutions for one another but simply don't add up together.
Actually
It is true about Levin any way you want to spin it.
Myers already has the endorsements of Gilmore, Kelly and the Burlco GOP.
Sorry to disappoint, but Ocean is a GOP stronghold as Cherry Hill is a Dem. I just wonder by how much in Ocean will Myers beat Adler by.
Burlco will too go to Myers. When push comes to shove Burlco voters do not like Camden County pols in their turf.
It will be history repeating itself.
