Sarlo will endorse Andrews

State Sen. Paul Sarlo, a close political ally of Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero, will endorse Rob Andrews for U.S. Senate after a formal announcement of his candidacy, according to sources close to the campaign. Ferriero had been expected to back Andrews, but is now likely to endorse Lautenberg after feeling considerable pressure from key backers of incumbent Frank Lautenberg, including Sen. Bob Menendez and Rep. Steve Rothman.

Let's get this show on the road

Obviously, Ferriero cannot endorse Andrews, but his surrogates can. It is pay back time for all these disgruntled Corzine's critics, who were hurt by Jon. Just watch how Democrats unravel before April 7th. I cannot wait to see the follow up after April 7th. It is getting hot in NJ. Do not forget Obama vs Hillary race. Watch for this to spill over big time in June.

Sarlo's a puppet...

...and everyone knows it.  The guy couldn't make a decision without Ferriero's telling him what that decision should be.  This a lost cause, and there will be ramifications for it after the primary.

Sarlo was highly critical

Of Bergen senate colleague Loretta Weinberg for endorsing a Camden County legislator for majority leader over his candidacy. Now he's stealing a page from Weinberg in endorsing Andrews over Lautenberg, a sitting incumbent and resident of Bergen County (Cliffside Park).

Who does this make sense to? A vulnerable incumbent state senator from a competitive legislative district picking a fight with an embedded US Senator that was already endorsed by the BCDO?

Didn't he vote to endorse Lautenberg just a couple of weeks ago?

Someone must have a poll saying Lautenberg is in big trouble or they have plenty of support for Andrews.

Ferriero behind that

Basically Ferriero has made a tacit endorsement of Andrews here.

He gives Frank the line to avoid an all-out civil war, but he won't rally the troops for Frank's campaign, and is secretly hoping that Andrews wins.
