DUI could end Assembly bid

Hudson County political insiders say that charges of driving under the influence of alcohol could impact Hoboken Councilman Christopher Campos' chances of going to the State Assembly next year. The 30-year-old Campos was charged with exeeding the legal limit around 3:00 AM Saturday morning in Manhattan, according to published reports.

Campos, who is also the municipal prosecutor in West New York, has been at the top of short lists for an open Assembly seat in the 33rd district, if incumbent Brian Stack continues his bid for State Senator against Majority Leader Bernard Kenny. Kenny is a Hoboken resident, and the conventional wisdom in Hudson is that Hoboken would maintain one of the three seats in the legislative delegation.

You got to be kidding, right! Does anybody in this state believe that of all places, Hudson county (where there is no loyal opposition) that they could put a murderer up for assembly and that machine would get him in. DUI please, it's just a lapse in judgement right, besides in West New York they don't even have time to prosecute drug dealers.

Why was Campos, a Hoboken Councilman, crusing around 43rd St and the Westside at 3am?

Some say Campos may have been looking for some night time action from the ladies of the evening who ply their trade around the Greyhound Terminal.

A quick ride from Hoboken, a few dollars and a quick ride back through the Tunnel and he would have been all smiles! This time Chris got caught with his pants down!!!

I think Campos probably killed his chances for next year, though he could re-surface in the future a few years down the line (barring any more incidents).

Not sure what Hobokenite would be next in line for the Assembly....Pete Cammarano Jr. perhaps.

Why does Campos deserve the 33rd anyway? Has he been instrumental in making Hoboken the hot spot it is now? I doubt it. Is he such a smart guy? Haven't heard such. Does he have legislative and state governmental experience? The answer is no.

I think there are other people in Hoboken who would much better represent the 33rd and the Democratic Party.
