Brown and Sarcone Denounce Intimidation, Assault by Medford GOP Boss;
Demand Rudder and Addiego Call for Madosky's Resignation

(8th Legislative District) – Denouncing the strong-armed political tactics that attempted to prevent them from communicating with voters this past weekend, Democratic Assembly candidates Bill Brown and Deb Sarcone today called for a formal investigation into what they characterized as “blatant abuse of power, physical assault and intimidation” from Medford Republican Chairman Steve Madosky

Brown and Sarcone were handing out flyers Sunday evening in the parking lot of Ott’s Restaurant on Stokes Road in Medford when Madosky angrily confronted them, using physical intimidation and threats of violence to prevent any political activity in Medford that was not approved by the incumbent GOP machine. Madosky also made explicit threats of police involvement, claiming the Medford Township Police Chief was at his beck-and-call.

“Chairman Madosky has seemingly forgotten that America was founded on the peaceful discourse of government and politics,” Brown said. “People around the world marvel at our succession of power and transition – from president all the way down to local school boards. No one, especially in a town as patriotic as Medford, should be exposed to this type of blatantly un-American behavior.”

“The attitude and behavior Chairman Madosky displayed was disgraceful and a huge disservice to every member of the Republican Party,” said Sarcone. “Trying to publicly humiliate is a sad display from any human being, much less the elected leader of a political party.”

The duo have called upon Burlington County Prosecutor Robert Bernardi and state Attorney General Anne Milgram to investigate Madosky. They also called upon their Republican opponents – Assembly members Scott Rudder and Dawn Addiego, to denounce Madosky and demand his resignation.

“Out of respect to every constituent who values an open exchange of ideas and positive campaigning, Assemblyman Rudder and Assemblywoman Addiego need to immediately demand Madosky's resignation,” said Sarcone. “This campaign must be about the future of our state and not left in the hands of hard-nosed local political bosses who claim to hold all the power in their communities.”

“Chairman Madosky has made a travesty of his position and put a stain on his party,” said Brown. “His style of politics would be more at home in the old Soviet Union, not Burlington County. If this is the way he conducts his party's business in public, we can only imagine what he does behind closed doors.”
