QUIGLEY STATEMENT ON DEATH OF JERSEY CITY POLICE OFFICER MARC DINARDO

(JERSEY CITY) - Assemblywoman Joan Quigley (D-Hudson) today praised the valor of Jersey City Police Officer Marc DiNardo, who died from injuries sustained during a Thursday shootout in which five other officers also suffered gunshot wounds.

DiNardo was a 10-year veteran of the Jersey City Police Department. He is survived by his wife, three children and parents.

The Assemblywoman released the following statement:

"Like all who wear the badge, Officer DiNardo entered work each day prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to keep the people of Jersey City safe from harm.

"His death is not just a loss to the Jersey City Police Department, but a devastating blow to everyone who is proud to call Jersey City home.

"As our city comes to grips with this unspeakable tragedy, we should remember Officer DiNardo's valor as we work together to stop the senseless violence that has plagued too many of our streets and too many families for far too long.

"Officer DiNardo died a hero. His legacy will live on through his final selfless act to donate his organs to give others a second chance at life.

"My heartfelt sympathy and condolences go out to the DiNardo family in their time of mourning."
