GREENWALD: PROPERTY TAXPAYERS WILL BE 'RIGHTFUL BENEFICIARIES' OF TAX AMNESTY WINDFALL

(TRENTON) - Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Louis Greenwald (D-Camden) made the following statement regarding the state's unexpected receipt of approximately $400 million in unanticipated new revenue through the recent tax amnesty program:

"Property taxpayers will be the rightful beneficiaries of today's good news.

"Every penny of this newfound money should go back to property taxpayers.

"All of this speaks volumes about the careful, orderly way in which the Legislature and Governor worked together throughout this budget process.

"Instead of the deadlock, bedlam and last-minute brokering being done in neighboring states, we are well on our way to not only strengthening our commitment to New Jersey's values, but will doing so well before the budget's constitutional deadline."
