CHIVUKULA: ENERGY MASTER PLAN RIGHT MIX
TO POWER NEW JERSEY'S FUTURE
Clean Energy, Conservation Key to Long-Term Sustainability
(FRANKLIN TWP.) - Assemblyman Upendra J. Chivukula, chairman of the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee, today applauded Governor Jon S. Corzine's focus on ensuring New Jersey's Energy Master Plan would make the state both a leader in the production of renewable, clean energy while simultaneously becoming a national model for conservation.
Chivukula (D-Somerset) is sponsor of several measures that would help the state meet the mandates of the master plan.
Chivukula released the following statement:
"In contrast to those who see off-shore drilling as the only way out of our state's energy crisis, Governor Corzine has unveiled a realistic plan to meet our energy needs without the need to increase reliance on fossil fuels.
"Enhancing our capacity to produce more of our own energy through solar and wind technology instead of importing it from coal-burning plants elsewhere simply makes sense.
"By taking the call for conservation to heart, businesses, government and individual consumers can also do their part to lower demand and the cost of energy.
"For the environment and ratepayers, this is a plan that strikes exactly the right balance."
