ROBERTS: ANYTHING LESS THAN COMPREHENSIVE HOUSING REFORM WILL NOT BE POSTED IN ASSEMBLY

(TRENTON) - Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts Jr. today said legislation released by the Senate Economic Growth Committee (S-1783) to allow the assessment of municipal development fees on non-residential construction to fund affordable housing would not be posted in the Assembly.

Roberts is sponsor of comprehensive affordable housing reform legislation (A-500) that is scheduled to be taken-up Thursday by the Assembly Housing and Local Government Committee.

Roberts (D-Camden) released the following statement:

"Reforming New Jersey's outdated and ineffective affordable housing laws cannot be done in a piecemeal manner.

"We cannot disregard the greater need for reform and anything less than comprehensive affordable housing legislation will not be posted in the Assembly."
