The 12th district Republican candidates today challenged Democratic Assemblyman Mike Panter and State Senator Ellen Karcher to call for a special session on ethics reform, saying they’ve been “curiously silent” on the issue in light of the recent corruption bust.
"We hear it all the time from Ellen and Mike", said Republican Assembly candidate Declan O'Scanlon. "'We took on our party on this, we took on our party on that '. Well here is their big chance to put their words into actions for once,”
But Panter basically said that he’s always supported the idea of a special session on ethics and would be happy to participate in one.
"I have consistently supported the idea of a special session on ethics reform dating back to 2004, and said I’d be the first in line to participate in one,” said Panter. “Our opponents are simply seeking campaign headlines by recycling our own ethics reform ideas, but we have walked the walk."
Ellen Karcher’s campaign could not immediately be reached for comment.
