DIANE ALLEN TO HOLD TOWN MEETING ON PROPOSED TURNPIKE SALE
Meeting to be held from 7 to 8 Wednesday, September 26 at the Delanco Municipal Building
Today’s Quinnipiac Poll demonstrates that the people of New Jersey are clearly opposed to any ‘asset monetization’ or other sale scheme by a two to one margin. Earlier this year Governor Corzine promised to hold Town Hall meetings in all 21 Counties. Since he is not doing it, I decided to offer Burlington County a voice. I believe that in order to have an honest conversation, the Trenton politicians need to start by spending some time listening. I also believe that raising the tolls on our roads by more than 150% is just plain wrong. This cynical scheme by the governor is nothing more than yet another stealth tax.
Senator Allen will be joined at the town hall meeting by Peter Humphreys. Mr. Humphreys is the spokesman for SaveOurAssetsNJ, a non-profit coalition urging Governor Corzine to provide more details about his plan to monetize New Jersey’s toll roads. Mr. Humphreys is an attorney with 25 years of expertise on securitization and structured finance transactions.
