DEMOCRATS 2000 AND MONMOUTH COUNTY YOUNG DEMOCRATS TO CO-HOST HAPPY HOUR IN RED BANK
RED BANK - On Wednesday, July 19, Democrats 2000 and the Monmouth County Young Democrats will co-host a happy hour at the Dublin House in Red Bank, to give area progressives and young professionals a chance to network and share ideas about the future of the Democratic Party.
"Not realizing the tremendous impact government has on our day to day lives, young people often feel no connection between themselves and elected officials," said Democrats 2000 President Steve Lenox. "Events like this one offer those who don't usually give politics a second thought an opportunity to engage key decision makers in informal and comfortable settings and discuss the issues that matter most to them."
"Monmouth County is on the front-lines when it comes to spreading the progressive message of socially responsible government working for the people it represents," said Dan Reilly, of Belmar, President of the Monmouth Young Dems. "We're happy to be working with Democrats 2000 to give the progressive voice a forum to be heard, and to bring Democrats in the Monmouth area together to have a good time."
The happy hour will begin at 7 p.m., and will be held on the back porch of the Dublin House. Admission is $40, and will include buffet-style food and an open bar. Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting young Democratic candidates seeking office in the State of New Jersey. Members of the press are invited to attend but please contact Dan Reilly in advance to let us know.
State Senator Ellen Karcher and Assemblyman Mike Panter are also scheduled to attend.
Established in 1992, Democrats 2000 is New Jersey's largest and most active organization for young, professional Democrats. In 2005 the organization contributed to campaigns at every level including those of more than 50 candidates under the age of 40 running for local, county, and state offices. Since its inception, Democrats 2000 has raised more than $200,000, mostly in contributions of $50 or less.
Monmouth County Young Democrats is an organization committed to supporting young candidates seeking office in Monmouth County. For more information, e-mail monmouthcountyyoungdemocrats@yahoo.com.
