HACKENSACK – Republicans Rob Hermansen and John Driscoll spent plenty of time blowing smoke during Monday’s Candidates Forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters. Driscoll though was happy to make one thing crystal clear. During his opening statement Driscoll stated:
“I work for Lorrilard Tobacco. I’ve done it for 21 years. I’m very proud of my employment for 21 years.”
“I find it stunning that in this day and age someone can declare that they’re proud to work in a profession that has gotten more than 288,000 children addicted to something that will cut their life short,” said Freeholder Julie O’Brien. “As a mother and a grandmother I know how hard it is to keep kids away from cigarettes. John Driscoll’s efforts aren’t helping.”
“It takes your breath away,” Freeholder Vernon Walton said. “The effects of the product John Driscoll is peddling has an enormously negative effect in our communities everyday. If I were selling something that caused emphysema, cancer and death I’m not sure ‘pride’ is not a word I’d choose to describe how I felt about my job.”

Blowing Smoke...
You two are truely pathetic. At least his only job isn't as a professional politician Julie. This man works hard to bring home money home to his family. And this is what he gets from our elected officials? Did you mention the work he does for the American Cancer Society?
Perhaps you should talk about the part of the debate where Julie said we "can't cheap out" with regards to spending our money.
You are sad individuals who do not deserve the office to which you were elected. And come November 3rd, Driscoll and Hermansen will see to that problem. You want to see the real problems folks?
Check out our freeholders blindly spending our money:

Pathetic
this must be the worst Dem Freeholder campaign in Bergen County ever. The Bergen democrats have nothing execpt a Mike Tyson in a suit and a dumb blond who services only the fathers of her out of wedlock children and not the taxpayers
Mahwad
Hermansen, you're a BigRedIdiot. The only thing redder than your shirt is your bloated face. Try unbuttoning your collar, you cow. No one's listening to you. Seriously, the sound of your voice is wretched. And the utter drivel that flows from your mouth. Just terrible.
BergenBlued
I often find the level of politcal discourse from our misdirected friends on the left laughable at times. So between our govenor and our freeholder's minions, if you are not fit and trim you need not apply? But if we're going to talk about the size of elected officials and your dislike for Mr. Hermansen's voice, please take a minute to watch this video to get the best of both worlds:

Nice to see that Julie "just can't cheap out," when it comes to taxpayer money. I am sure you and the rest of her ilke are so proud of her current spending habits. Here is the big question Blue Balls, WHAT DOES RAMSEY KNOW ABOUT JULIE THAT THE REST OF BERGEN SHOULD KNOW? WHAT DOES ENGLEWOOD KNOW ABOUT VERNON THAT THE REST OF BERGEN SHOULD? Funny how 2 sitting Councilmembers lost their re-election bids yet with a stroke of luck they became Freeholders. Well, that stroke of luck is heading to prison, who in your party will be next. It probably will not take too long for us all to find out. By the way all of a sudden Mr Feldman is no longer writing your press releases, what happened does he actually have work in the county to do this week? As for Mr. Driscoll, going to be so good watching him taking over the seat being held by our Ms. O'Brien. Tick tick tick goes the clock, 11 days until Bergen's 2 party system returns.
Ft Lee Republican get a life man
Let's keep the comments respectful. Of course you need to try to attack personally as opposed to substance based, because your campiagn is substance-less.
And by the way:
Fort Lee republican? You should come up with something more unique because i think there is only one republican in fort lee, so people will know who you are.
Democratic Committee of Bergen County
Do me a favor and take your morals somewhere else. The fact that you come on here after putting out press release after press release attacking Mr. Driscoll and Mr. Hermansen over their personal lives to discuss morals. Give me a break, the only morals and ethics that are coming from you, can be found in your local sewer. As for substance 4th highest property taxes in the United States. Has almost tripled the debt in 7 years of Democratic control. Has watched the state continue to cut State Aid to the local municipalities. Thereby forcing further the burden on the local taxpayer. Deciding that $75k is now rich here in NJ so you no longer qualify for the Homestead Rebate. Watching the County push through a budget increase of almost 8% last year. 5million dollars wasted on an Equestrian Center, over 200 million wasted on Xanadu and another 100 million because of ENCAP.
Lack of issues for the Republicans, there are more than enough to go through.
