HELPING BERGEN COUNTY ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY

HACKENSACK – As Bergen County works toward economic recovery, Freeholders Julie O’Brien and Vernon Walton are spearheading efforts to help increase access to vital county services for those still struggling in the current climate.

Earlier this year O’Brien and Walton partnered with their fellow Freeholders as well as County Executive Dennis McNerney and Sheriff Leo McGuire to offer “The Road to Resources and Recovery,” a series of town hall style events that brought most of the county’s social and financial resources, including foreclosure counseling and job services, under one roof.

“Given the stigma associated with accepting a helping hand, bringing these services out into the community is a vital part of getting the families affected by this economy the help they need,” said Freeholder Julie O’Brien. “Government has a responsibility to help it’s constituents weather this storm and to see them through to the other side.”

“Delivering the services our constituents need when they need them is our highest priority,” said Freeholder Vernon Walton. “Julie and I have, and hope to continue, doing all that we can to help the residents of this county protect all the things that make Bergen an ideal place to call home.”

Helping How? By Spending Bergen into Oblivion?

I would love to know how much we as taxpayers are paying to roll out another program designed to educate people about all of the other programs we're paying for. I'm sure it's a pretty penny. As Freeholder Julie O'brien said yesterday when it comes to spending our tax dollats, "You can’t just cheap out". It's hard to "cheap out" when you rarely know what it is you're spending our money on.

Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT2KRO6RcqY

This will show you how $100,000 was spent without the freeholders knowing how or where it was being spent. You want to help the struggling people of Bergen County? $100,000 would go a long way for some people.

Wake up Bergen County - these people don't care about your troubles. They care about themselves and their tax and spend political careers.

on the road to ruin and distruction

The Rev wright WALTON and his blond HO know nothing about serving the public. They allowed illegals to flood the streets of Bergen and their only campaign is to attack a family fathers honest job, because they have NOTHING to offer the Bergen voters

I'll tell you what worries me the most

After reading Mr. Gartland's article about the debate, one thing jumped out at me. Ms. O'Brien's quote, " You just can't cheap out." Now she tells us another classic,"Government has a responsibility to help it’s constituents weather this storm and to see them through to the other side."Translation, hold onto your wallets ladies and gentlemen Julie and the Freeholders are coming to make sure you pay to see them out to the other side. This Freeholder Board is pathetic. So, this is her full time job that she makes 28k a yr to go around meet people and cut ribbons? How come you did not cut the ribbons last year? Do you only cut them when you run for election? Think about the bright side if this is your fulltime job next year you can look for one that pays more. The only trouble is you will actually have to earn this money, and not ask one of your fellow Freeholder's, "What Do I do now." This is one taxpayer who is looking forward to seeing the Freeholder's consulting with the County on job re-training from Freeholder to whatever.

Sounds like a good old fashion debate occurred yesterday

One side offered a basis to vote for them and one gave a reason to send them packing and NOT re-elect them. I have one question for Ms.O'Brien, Jules dear, did you really say, "You just can't cheap out." Now remember, you do realize this is tax-payer money and not yours right. You should be looking for value like in the form of TJ Maxx instead of Bergdorf Goodman's. Then again after seeing you on tv, you already know the difference between those 2. How come you do not spend my money, like you spend yours on your outfits? After watching the debate I will tell you what I am looking forward to, watching Driscoll & Hermansen live in action agianst the 5 remaining Freeholders. How long before Carroll decides not to run again or one of them aligns themselves with them. My guess less than 3 months. The seasons just changed, soon so will the Freeholders. All I can say to Ms. O'Brien and Mr. Walton when you plant, and you plant things that grow, you reap what you sew. The only thing growing in Bergen thanks to the 2 of you is taxes and debt. Tick, tick, tick goes the clock 14 days until the era of irresponsibility on the Freeholder Board ends. After yesterday, there are many, many more people in Bergen County who are proud to be Republicans again. Great job to Mr. Driscoll and Mr. Hermansen for showing Bergen County why we need them to represent our County. Seriously, " You just can't cheap out" so elect the 2 you will get your money's worth with. Vote Driscoll & Hermansen
