Myers delivers victory speech: Photo credit: Daniel ReiterMEDFORD - Third Congressional District Republican nominee Chris Myers didn't hesitate a moment before ripping at his Democratic opponent, John Adler.
During his victory speech tonight, Myers criticized what he called the Trenton Political Machine.
"Our state and our nation are on the wrong track and career politicians can't fix it," he said.
Myers told supporters at the Union Fire Company that Adler wanted to go to Washington to "continue the partisan gridlock and bickering and march in lockstep with the radical liberal special interests."
Myers criticized Adler for spending "tens of thousands of dollars running against me in a Republican primary" and "distorting my record in the following weeks of this campaign."
"He desperately wanted to beat me in a primary to avoid facing me in the general election in November," Myers continued, "Guess what? He failed!"
Myers's speech also had a softer side. He congratulated his two opponents for a well fought race and thanked U.S. Rep. Jim Saxton for his years of service. He also noted that he planned to spend plenty of time in Ocean County between now and November.
Myers fought a hard and at times harsh primary battle with opponents Jack Kelly and Justin Murphy. Now, Chris Myers's Medford machine will go toe-to-toe with Adler's Trenton machine in November.
