CORODEMUS AND KEAN WIN BACKING OF GROUP REPRESENTING NEW JERSEY BUSINESS OWNERS
GROUP CITES SUPPORT FOR LOWER TAXES
AND PRO-ECONOMIC GROWTH POLICIES
Atlantic Highlands & Wall NJ: Assemblymen Steve Corodemus and Sean Kean today announced that they have received the support of the Private Enterprise Political Action Committee (PENPAC), a New Jersey business organization advocating pro-economic growth policies.
"We are honored by this endorsement and pledge to continue fighting for policies that will encourage economic growth," Corodemus said. "Only by creating a strong economy and a friendly tax environment can we attract business and jobs to our state."
PENPAC endorsed Corodemus and Kean as a result of their support for lower taxes, reduced government regulation, and a stronger economy. The organization supports candidates it believes are committed to creating jobs and improving the state’s economic climate.
"During my time in Trenton I have worked hard to create an economic climate that will attract jobs to our state," Kean said. "Fostering a strong economy and working toward lower taxes are key components to improving our state’s efforts at job creation."
Kean and Corodemus noted that in recent years the state has taken an almost hostile attitude toward the business community. It started with the approval of an increase in the corporation business tax and continued with the increase in the personal income tax for those earning over $500,000 a year -- a tax paid by many small business owners in our state.
In addition to adopting 67 tax and fee increases -- most of which were targeted at New Jersey's business community -- the state has tightened its regulatory grip on the business community. As a result, our state has lost jobs, and in a survey of chief executive officers last year, New Jersey was ranked as one of the worst states in the nation in which to do business.
Corodemus and Kean said they will keep fighting to change the state’s approach to the business community and to help spur economic growth in New Jersey.
