DOHERTY AND REILLY OP-RESEARCHER REQUESTS INFO ON CONSTITUENT LETTER ONE DAY BEFORE COMPLAINT IS FILED
The campaign of Matt Doherty and Jim Reilly hasn't been very good at coming up with a solution on the property tax issue. Nor have they been very good at coming up with original ideas for ethics reforms. And they certainly haven’t been very good at standing up to the Democrat Party bosses who are funding their campaign.

They do appear to be having some success at generating frivolous ethics complaints. First it was a complaint with the Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) asking them to look into legal campaign contributions made by Doug Forrester – an issue ELEC said it had no jurisdiction over.
Now, in a press release issued Monday titled "Isn’t It Ironic, Don’tcha Think," they are touting a complaint filed with the Joint Legislative Committee on Ethical Standards regarding a constituent letter sent by Assemblymen Steve Corodemus and Sean Kean.
Interestingly, the letter to the committee raising the complaint was dated August 19, 2005. In a letter dated August 18 – one day before – an opposition researcher on the payroll of the Doherty and Reilly campaign sent an Open Public Records Act (OPRA) request for information on that very same constituent letter.
So Doherty and Reilly’s opposition researcher Hiram Sachs (who received $16,375 from the campaign in its last campaign finance report) requests information on this constituent letter and the very next day a complaint is filed.
Now that is ironic. Or is it?
Fading in the polls and desperate for any kind of traction, Reilly and Doherty are lashing out with trumped up attacks.
In the press release issued Monday Jim Reilly states that this, “goes to show, once again, how duplicitous our opponents are when it comes to ethics reform.�
We think that quote seems more appropriately directed to Mr. Reilly and Mr. Doherty.
