As I drove home from a VP debate party on Thursday night, I surfed radio talk shows and heard countless callers say that Governor Palin ‘won’ the debate and express that they liked her because she could “relate” to ”regular” people. Call me crazy, but I don’t think the President or the Vice President of arguably the most powerful country in the world should be a “regular person.” On the contrary, I think the country’s top leaders should be extremely special or at least better informed, smarter and more experienced than the rest of us. I am sure most of those callers would agree that their next-door neighbor could relate to “regular” people but they sure wouldn’t want them to run the country.
Why do we need the Vice President to relate? Yes, we desperately need a Vice President and President who understand the needs of working and middle class families who are suffering economically at the same time that corporate CEO’s get multibillion-dollar bailouts and golden parachutes. But the fact that Sarah Palin gets points from some folks for repeating obviously memorized and overly rehearsed talking points and political platitudes simply because they were peppered with homespun lingo like “there ya go” and “you betcha” is demoralizing.
And, seriously, have we not learned that particular lesson over the past eight years? Are people really forgetting that folksy “regular guy” currently calling the White House home who dragged this country into a war causing thousands of lives to be lost and costing $10 billion dollars a month, by stoking fears of weapons of mass destruction that did not exist? That same nickname-calling “nice guy” still hasn’t found Bin Laden, has driven our economy into financial crisis, and has presided over the greatest job losses this country has ever seen.
Some of the same people who voted for George W. Bush because they thought they might “enjoy having a beer with him” can’t afford that beer right now. Where did this kind of thinking, and voting, get us? U.S. jobs are vanishing at the fastest pace in more than five years, worrying economists that the country is ‘careening toward a deep and painful recession.’ Middle class families cannot meet their obligations, some are going bankrupt and many are facing foreclosure. Americans have suffered nine straight months of job loss with more than 760,000 jobs disappearing this year thus far according to a U.S. Department of Labor report released this week. The unemployment rate has risen from 4.7 percent last year to 6.1 percent this year and the number of unemployed has gone from 2.2 million to 9.5 million people in a single year.
Shortly after the debate ended, news stations reported a CNN poll finding that Palin had exceeded expectations. Of course, expectations were on the floor. Expectations aside, this country needs and deserves leaders who actually understand the domestic and foreign policy words coming out of their mouth. We are talking about the highest executive office in the country here, not mayor or Governor of a small population state. Does anyone truly believe that the Palin, who first met a foreign leader just weeks ago and who acquired her first passport only last year, understands the nuances of an approach to policy on Pakistan or Iran or how to turn the economy around?
The ability to relate or be liked is not enough. But even in terms of her relateability, Palin falls short. Not only does Palin not relate to most American women, she doesn’t offer them much of anything substantive. During the debate, Palin mentioned “our respect for women’s rights” when answering a foreign policy question. But what exactly did she mean? Palin has a controversially conservative stance on abortion, saying she opposes abortions even in cases of rape and incest, despite the reality that most American women support choice. She claims she supports equal pay for equal work but McCain failed to support the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, which would advance the pay equity cause, claiming that women simply needed better job training. Palin has no positive record on issues of violence against women and rape, as Governor of a state with high levels of both. Even worse, while she was mayor of Wasilla, the town billed victims of rape for rape kits, until the Alaska legislature banned the practice.
We need a Vice President who is actually qualified to take over the Presidency should he not finish his term, as nine other Vice Presidents have done so in the past. Both the President and Vice President need to understand how the world works and our country’s role in it. It is plainly evident that Palin does not.
There is no question that Senator Joe Biden, who has a deep and exceptionally sophisticated understanding of both foreign and domestic policy, a strong base of experience in diplomacy, a history of bipartisan efforts in Congress and working class roots can “relate” to regular people. But, much more importantly, unlike Governor Palin, Biden is clearly qualified to be President should he be called to the task. Darn right.

Palin
Mrs Katz . Mrs Palin never sleeps around with the State Clown and milks millions from the Taxpayer. Mrs Palin is one of us. A real American woman. Yes we do call you crazy, just what is your home spun lingo ? I forgot State Unioneeze; sqweeze the last penny out of the hard working NJ taxpayer while you eat your Hors D'ourves at your latest elitist banquet. Mrs Katz you and your Gold Man Sachs Clown Corzine have spent our hard earned money. The party is over. Suggest you eat the rest of your cake before Sarah and her followers with Pitch Forks come to tar and feather you.
Katz - Please GO AWAY
You are a hack with ZERO integrity. This site should ban you and never let you be heard from again here as nothing more than a fan of Corzine. You screwed your own UNION that you swore to represent.
Anything you say is worthless. You speak about the ability to be liked...Do you think anyone likes you?? Speak to the union members you screwed for political favor.
You speak of not being qualified because she's Governor of a small state - what makes you qualified - sleeping with the Governor of a corrupt state????
So tell me, Carla
Do you think she wrong for America because she didn't whore her way to the top or because she is way hotter than you?
How is it that Carla Katz is
How is it that Carla Katz is allowed to post on this website? Is she supposed to represent the "liberated" feminist? When a woman only achieves power and prominence through sex it should not be celebrated. There is no place for Katz in the public square, unless it is in a courtroom. I am not surprised though that this website, which allows the Torch to continue to spew his corrupt opinions on its pages would also allow Karla. Perhaps next week we can listen to the ethical views of McGreevey.
Attacks on Katz
Look, I don't agree with just about anything Carla Katz says, but this personal attack stuff is over the top. Most people see personal attacks as an inability to disagree on substance.
I give Carla Katz a lot of credit for continuing to post her views knowing what's going to get posted when she does. Call her a political hack, a left-wing nut or a drain on the taxpayers, but keep the personal stuff out of it. This is one of the main reasons people get disgusted with politics.
I've got a lot of gripes with Jon Corzine, but what he does on his personal time is his business, not mine or anyone else's.
Agreed
I'll agree with Mountaintop on this one.
There's enough said in there that can be debated for bigger reasons than who the governor has dated.
Don't let Jon Corzine determine your vote for President. Weigh Obama/Biden against McCain/Palin, not against Carla Katz's toxic reputation.
Your right this is very
Your right this is very personal, Corruption is very personal. It affects everyone in this state. Why should openly corrupt people be allowed to voice their concerns? The reason our politicians are able to get away with slush funds, while our people and businesses are suffering under heavy tax burdens and massive deficits, is because you guys are out there justifying these people and allowing them to continue to steal from us.
Carla Katz and her corruption and your justification of it, is the reason people are disgusted with politics. They want better, they want people who are selfless, not self serving
Question: How do we get rid of Karla Katz?
Answer: Look the other way for 15 minutes.
Come'on people, it worked with Ricky Martin! Her fifteen minutes are up. She's over. her opinions are just reprints of 'The Daily Kos.'
She's a talentless self-promoter. Eventually, Jon got sick of her eighties hair and floozy ways. He moved. We need to, too. PolitickerNJ WILL fire this floozy if she stops generating pageviews and comments (duh, i am violating my own rule, here).
All we have to do is just look the other way while she spews her idiot crap. Pray Politicker will fire her and take away her pulpit.
BTW, how dare this tawdry example trailer-park trash insult ANYONE. Isn't she the same piece of filth that took a full scholarship to Seton Hall Law School (took the scholarship away from someone likely more deserving) all while living it up in Hoboken in her $1M apartment bought by Jon Clownzine?
Just look the other way people, nothing to see here. Just look away, and she goes away, out to her West Jersey mansion. We got rid of Ricky Martin. We can do it!
American Women
I find it ironic that someone who had an affair with the Governor to advance her political career is claiming that a woman who has been an effective governor while raising 5 kids does not relate to American Women
Is Obama/Biden ticket wrong for America? You betcha.
Apparently Carla Katz is an expert on variety of political issues. These are the policy issues that I noticed: who is the ”regular person”, relationship between President or Vice President with folks, how a “regular guy” caused the Iraq War, unemployment and drinking beer, exceeding expectations, foreign travel, diplomacy, relateability (or rather ability to relate), equal pay for equal work, qualifications of the Vice President, understanding how the world works and our country’s role in it, and finally Joe Biden.
If only Ms. Katz were an expert on any of the above subjects, she would certainly conclude that the Democratic ticket of Obama/Biden is the most unqualified ticket in recent memory. On the top of the ticket sits Sen. Obama, who is a freshman Senator (3 years in the office including 2 years campaigning), a lawyer, lecturer of law, a community organizer, self biographer, political campaigner. How this resume does qualify you for the President of the USA is not explained by Ms. Katz. Sen. Biden has spent 36-years in Washington, DC, which qualifies him to the title of the consummate Washington insider. During the VP debate with Gov. Palin this consummate Washington insider confused the Constitution of the USA, confused Hezbollah in Lebanon, and repeated rehearsed campaign talking point to the point of absurdity that was picked up by the SNL last Saturday. The one thing that stuck in my mind was that Sen. McCain is his dear friend. The question is how all of this qualifies him to be the President of the USA. I recall the Biden plan to partition Iraq into three separate regions that would create havoc in the Middle East and quite frankly revealed his embarrassing ignorance of the region. After Sen. Biden revealed his plan all factions in Iraq united in opposition to his proposal. Now I understand Ms. Katz’s fascinations with his exceptional sophistication. Even General Petraeus would not be able to come up with such a plan.
Katz Litter
Its time to clean the Katz litter box
out of Trenton and NJ it stinks.
Question what do Osama Bin Laden and Barack
Obama have in common ? They both have friends that BOMBED the Pentagon.
Katz the Offical "First Prostitute of NJ"
Now that the votes have been counted its official. By an oustounding 100% of the votes Karla "On My Back Feet in The Air for a Buck" Katz is the Official Prostitute of New Jersey.
When interviewed while on her knees at a recent bachelor party she stated "Gurgle, gurgle, GULP...."
Mountaintop - your wrong on Karal and cWHOREzine
These two Bonnie and Clydes conspired to cheat NJ tax payers with a back door fix for the union thugs and over payed lazy state workers...her and john should be in jail
Now for a reasonable comment (but I love the Katz bashing too)
Ms. Katz,
Let me explain a few things to you, and the rest of the NJ liberals:
Your opinion is quite typical of Democrats, so nobody should be surprised by your view of Gov. Palin. Liberals often like politicians that they think are brilliant and full of wisdom. They like their politicians to be this way because at the base of their political beliefs is the belief in government having all the answers, and that the federal government should be the catalyst for solving all the problems for the country and for each individual. This is why your candidates are often branded as "Elitists," because they are so removed from the desires of the country, and they truly believe (and so do their followers) that they have all the answers.
This is in direct contrast to the conservative belief that the Federal government exists to reflect the American people, and it should be large enough to handle basic issues like national defense and a few other key areas, but it should be no larger and no more invasive than that. Conservatives believe that government is at its best when it is getting out of the way of the private sector. We believe that the American people are pretty terrific, and with the government out the way, and with hard work, self-reliance, and each other, most can do quite well.
The problem is that liberals think they have all the answers, so things like welfare are created, and now we have a system that supports generation after generation. It is no longer a helping hand, it is a chosen lifestyle. Liberalism corrupted Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with their belief that everyone should own a home, without having to meet the minimum requirement: the ability to pay for it. This also goes for Sally Mae - everybody should go to college, but government money is thrown out there with no consideration for how they will get paid back.
You all believe in social welfare, not the basic American beliefs of hard work and self-reliance.
You believe in redistribution of wealth, not the basic American belief that everybody should pay their way equally.
I think my point is made, the rest of what I would say from here on would just make liberals more angry and bitter ... looking into the truth mirror will do that!! So, I am going to go grip my bible and guns, and be a bitter, mean self-centered SOB.
Carla Katz: Wrong for New Jersey?
You betcha!
republikyle
Hey republikyle..a quick google of you shows that you are interested in how shall we say..an "alternative lifestyle"...werent you tight with Gov. McGreevey???
Personal Stuff isn't Personal
When a government official uses her position for personal gain, it's no longer personal! It shows her character!
And truly Katz has used her office for GREAT Personal gain: big addition to house, tuition for private schools for children, free law school for self, great new apartment, etc. etc. etc.
She writes Palin "does not relate to most American Woman" Question: Does Katz think most American women can relate to her (meaning Katz)? Do the single moms in the union relate to Katz? I don't think so.
Is Katz wrong for NJ? You Betcha!
Katz the Offical "First Prostitute of NJ"
Is Katz wrong for NJ? You Betcha!
alley Katz
Sleep with an Alley Katz you wake up with Flees and STD's
Katz Spreading the stupidity.. it's bad for everyone
"Some of the same people who voted for George W. Bush because they thought they might “enjoy having a beer with him” can’t afford that beer right now."
Well we know that Corzine likes drinking beer with you Karla. And niether of you two communist kids are having trouble affording anything, so why the anomosity toward Palin? You're just different, that's all.
She waits to kill moose in a helicopter,
You wait to kill babys as their being born.
you like ketchup she like mustard right?
"That same nickname-calling “nice guy” still hasn’t found Bin Laden,"
Oh, so Water Boarding and wire tapping phone calls isn't enough for Katz? What else would you do to find Osoma, Carla, Honey?
Aren't you the little action hero..
I'm sorry but crying "We don't have Osoma" when Bush's tactics have been repeatly bashed as excessive and cruel, strikes me as disingenuous.
What else would you suggest we do Commander Katz? Perhaps you need to call Petraeus and explain to him how he can catch terrorists by being nice to them, and respecting their privacy. You're our only hope, Carla! We got Saddam and have had no terror attacks on US soil FYI
"has driven our economy into financial crisis, and has presided over the greatest job losses this country has ever seen."
WRONG Obama SUED Citibank under the community reinvestment act in 1994 for refusing to make high risk loans. He himself, along with Barney Frank, Dodd, decided that buying votes with cheap houses was a good idea, and they stopped Bush and McCain from reforming Freddie and Fanny. Bush's tax cuts were working just fine before democrats created this economic sh*t storm. There is not one single specific thing that any republican did to bring about the housing disaster. Dodd should be investigating himself right now.
Unfortunately McCain could not once bring himself to defend Bush one single time during those debates. Instead Blaming Wall street for doing what people like Obama and acorn, harrassed and intimidated them to do.. and that was of course to make loans to people who you couldn't loan lunch money to.
Time for a fresh perspective on public discourse
It’s time for a fresh perspective on the negative public comments that have been appearing against Carla Katz. Many of those comments have focused on her old relationship to Governor Corzine and the financial arrangements that followed that relationship.
It’s great that people help each other out financially when relationships end. It’s nobody else’s business. I’ve done it more than once. It is usually provided in the context of both parties’ total assets. Generosity should not be a subject for criticism.
I don’t want strangers making stupid public statements and trying to interfere in my past relationships. Would you want people spouting off about yours? How would it make you feel?
If you’re not familiar with an ex-couple’s personal situation, I suggest you keep any misinformed and hateful comments to yourself.
Equating generosity with prostitution is to frame a situation in exactly the terms that the ‘outraged’ person is allegedly objecting. I see though that nonsense. Most people do. It’s intolerance and sociopathy framed with a halo.
On the subject of generosity, for those who have never volunteered their time in the labor movement—I feel sorry for you. Unions continue to bring great social and economic benefits to broad segments of our society. The labor movement helped make America the strong and relatively prosperous nation it is today.
Ronald Reagan was a union man. So too was former NRA president Charlton Heston.
For those of you who have never lost a job, I feel sorry for you too. A little humility builds character. Look what it did for Jimmy Carter.
My biggest regrets are reserved for those who feel compelled to put down someone else in order to make themselves feel good. Hatred is for losers.
The voices of hatred are creating a backlash against the values they supposedly support, unless those values represent a nihilistic form of misogyny that can only be expressed through blind aggression and hatred against attractive women serving in the public eye.
When I knew Carla Katz as a classmate at Rutgers and in our early days in the Communications Workers of America (CWA), I cannot think of anyone who was better able to keep their personal life and personal relations out of the public eye. I never saw or heard of Katz behaving in any way that was even flirtatious. Her professionalism and selfless hard work contributed to her popularity and rise through the ranks.
Katz has already been penalized by being removed from the presidency of CWA Local 1034 on July 7, 2008. Enough already. That’s old news. Move on, everybody.
If I had stayed in Local 1034, would I have supported Katz in her final months in that organization? I don’t know. I wasn’t around to see what was happening. It is not an issue that is relevant in the current discussion of appropriate forms of public discourse.
The current stream of public comments directed against Katz represents the most blatant public display of misogyny that I can remember. It should not and does not detract from Katz’s long record of positive contributions to the economy and environment in New Jersey.
We are all better than the meanness that has followed Katz since July 7. Now let’s become (in ourselves and in the way we treat others) the change we want to see in the world. If we are genuinely good people, then we need to act like it.

Fair enough
"Unions continue to bring great social and economic benefits to broad segments of our society. The labor movement helped make America the strong and relatively prosperous nation it is today."
I worked in shoprite in college and was in the labor union. I was told I didn't have to join, but they'd take union dues out anyway, so you might as well join. Only thing the Labor union did for me was take money out of my paycheck. that's my personal experiance with labor unions. Unions were more practical during the industrial revolution. I'm in no union right now, and don't feel the need to be in one. unless, of couse, I wanted some other form of burocracy dipping their hand into my take home pay.
Why is it so great to be a "Proud Union Man?" Is it cool to be John Henry the hammer swinger or something? I don't get it. I think I'm too young to understand.
clity clack clity clack...
"The current stream of public comments directed against Katz represents the most blatant public display of misogyny that I can remember."
Well then your memory is shot. Remember stream of public comments directed against Sarah Palin? Including the last two articles written by Katz? What about the never ending public display of misogyny against Bush? Joe the plumber is also being smeared left and right. His past has been dug up for all the world to see, all because he made Obama slip up and spill the beans that he was a rabid socialist.
And Joe the Plumber has never written an aricle smearing anyone, public or private in his life.
I agree with your point about finacial relationships between couples being no ones business, except when that relationship has taxpayer dollars in play. Fair enough?
Union Questions
Is it better to have a job at $10 per hour or not have a job that used to pay you $15 per hour? I say used to because the company was forced to move or go out of business because the union wouldn't budge.
Does it seem fair that unions fight against secret ballots when a company's labor force in deciding if they wish to join a union or no? Do you think that this is maybe so that they can intimidate people into voting in favor of unionizing?
Truly shameful
Thank you Mountaintop, and the few others who maintained decency,
Ms. Katz, I don’t know you at all, but nobody deserves to be subjected to this. Please try not to let the pathetic little boys get you down.
Anthony Mitchell, I think you afford them way too much respect. Their rude and infantile tantrums have no place in public discourse.
Misogyny against Bush and Joe the plumber? Now there’s a definition I would love to see.
And what taxpayer dollars were involved in Corzine and Katz’s relationship?
Tax Payer $$$
"Misogyny against Bush and Joe the plumber? Now there’s a definition I would love to see. "
My bad, but certainly there is misogyny against Palin. The defiance of Corzine and Katz against a NJ judge ordering the release of their emails cost the state over 54,000 dollars. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/06/corzinekatz_email_case_has_cos....
GO PALIN!
Reason
What a B.S. moniker. You are probably a highly illiberal, intolerant left-leaning boob.
We're supposed to celebrate diversity and be tolerant of other people's opinions, right? Well here it is. Soak it in and stop trying to silence people.
Kraptz is cWHOREzines Monica
You left wing loons who talk about fairness. Here are two people cWHOREzine and Karla - NJ First Prostitute, doing back door deals (I guess with Karla you can take that either way...), lying and deciveing NJ tax payers...they should both be investigated and prosecuted...
How come no one in the NJ or National media is questioning how cWHOREzine amassed all of his millions? Hey DUMBOcraps where is all the yelling and screaminng about all of the Wall Street rip offs?
cWHOREzine made his money ripping off Americans and then blames Bush..
I rest my case
Thanks for being so accommodating, only because the field is required.
Adams Apple
Strange I swear I can see a HUGE Adams Apple in Karla's (NJ First Prostitutes) picture?
Does anyone else see it???
tReason is Karla
Why does karla - NJ's First Prostitute feel that she must use fake user names to defend herself????
Pretty pathetic....
where are the true feminists?
How can anyone who says equal rights and pay for women do what the so called "Liberal Women's Movement" are doing to Sarah Palin and her family? I can't recall a year where the left mocked older people, babies with down's syndrome, sneered and mocked someone's teenage daughter. The left's vicious, vile attacks on Sarah Palin will come back to haunt them.
Give it time. As for me, I consider myself a liberated female, and I love Sarah Palin.
Karla Katz is nothing but a self promoting has been.
King of
Well If Reason is Carla, I suspect "King of the Dems" is really a liberal posting as right winger for the purpose of planting lewd comments to portray critics of Corzine and Katz as classless lunatics, which is really how democrats behave. ie the "Code Pinkos" who crash military funerals.
What Republican would call themselves "King of the Dems"? King of the Dems, I don't know how Corzine amassed millions. Does that even matter? I assume he made his share at Goldman Sach before he was pushed out in a Coup de ta. Goldman didn't want him and I'm not sure NJ wants him either.
But I'm betting your post was intended to make Carlas critics look rabid, and Carla aka "Reason" to look wise and prudent.
Am I right? There's no way of proving it. It's just a theory.
Panama
Wrong...wrong...wrong.....
I am a self employed NJ tax payer who is sick and tired of the antics of cWHOREzine and the FIRST SLUT....
Everytime he opens his mouth I know its going to cost me money...now I hear his mortgage bailout plan will be for "urban" homeowners...code word for "inner city minorities". Whay about the rest of the taxpayers in the state?
These are the same programs that the DUMBocraps started that got us into this mess...allowing people to buy homes who couln not even afford a down payment let alone a monthly mortgage..
Goldman was a big mortgage derivatives trader when he was there..wheres the investigation. Hes Barry Husseins economic consultant...look america if Barry Hussein wins I am sure cWHOREzine will screw it up like he did here!!!
I am sure Corzine will screw
I am sure Corzine will screw it up like he did here!!!
-You're right about that the man is a commie. So much for not raising taxes on the middle class in NJ, ay Corzine? Last democrat to propose/cut taxes was JFK. Obama will not cut taxes for anyone, nor will Corzine. That's not how socialists opperate Barry never proposed a tax cut until he started running for president.
Accumulated responses, in no order
Panama, I disagree with most of what you say, but would you were right about KingoftheDems He, by his own post, leaves no doubt about his sincerity. He doesn’t need a foil to come across as “rabid.” If you see "classless lunatic"…you said it, not me. I think he previously was JustMeHere. I don’t know why he would bother to change his name, because his infantile word play is trademark. And certainly he’s had plenty of equally objectionable company on this thread.
Murrin and Panama
I don't know what it means these days to be a "liberated female." I'm a happy and productive female. Deserving and demanding equal rights and equal pay go without question. I oppose Sarah Palin because I disagree with her policies and think she lacks a multitude of the qualities necessary to lead this country. I feel no traitor to my gender in making that statement. Rather, I would be a traitor to my values and my good sense if I supported her BECAUSE she is a woman. I think we can disagree respectfully on the subject without impugning each other's feminism.
I truly don’t see any misogyny toward Palin (except the people who question her capacity to serve given motherhood responsibilities, but that seems more ignorance than ill will). Criticisms of her focus on experience and knowledge, her lack of which have nothing to do with her gender. Remember Dan Quayle.
I too would object to vicious and vile attacks on Sarah Palin (just as I object to them on Carla Katz). I just can't say that I've seen them. Who has mocked Palin’s family or older people? I truly am interested in knowing if there are examples that I've missed. All I’ve seen mocked is Palin’s claim that Alaska’s proximity to Russia endows her with foreign policy experience. That requires no further comment.
Are Corzine and Katz any less deserving of due process than anyone else?
Tim Price
I am not trying to silence anyone. I am perfectly open to hearing others’ views. I just prefer they be expressed respectfully and civilly. It’s not the opinions expressed on this site, but rather their crass and nasty delivery, that offends me. In my view, tolerance is not something you demonstrate because you’re “supposed to.” It’s a spontaneous state of mind that issues from who you are.
tReason is Karla
Well well.... the First Prostitute is back using her alias Treason again....
Who are you to judge anyone? Crawl back under yer rock...
It's about what she has done
Ok first off Corzine and Katz can fight off the legal system because they are powerful people so due process doesn't really apply to them. ie spending 54,000 of tax payer money to stave off appeals in their nixonion attempt to hide emails ordered to be publicly released.
Katz is not being attacked because she's a woman, she's being attacked because she has no credibility to attack anyone. Her opinions are tainted. Letters to the editor by random joes in the newspaper hold more weight than her words. The same can be said of the Bob the burned out torch Torricelli, who wrote on this site. Katz doesn't think Palin is fit for the vice presidency? Well then who does KAtz think would be more properly suited?
Perhaps a ousted union chief that has a sugar daddy? That vs a person who was first a mayor then beat out incombant republican for governor built an alaskan pipeline, cut taxes for alaska, has a huge approval rating in her own state and holds together a family with a special needs kid, and can shoot a gun. The simple truth is that it's not about what Palin says. It's what she does.
Measured against Carla KAtz, Sarah Palin is just a better human being, all things considered. She could give the worst interview of her life tomorrow, it wouldn't change my opinion.
Katz wouldn't last 20 seconds under the scrutiny Palin is undergoing. Everything down the the cloths she wears is held under a microscope.
If Palin was a Democrat.....
She would be cast out for her views on abortion BUT take that away and....
How would she be viewed otherwise....
she would be probably be placed on a pinnacle for ability to be a mother of 5 and a Governor. Someone who can do it all including care for a handicapped child, something only a male democrat (Biden)could do. She would be hailed as rose up to serve as a PTA for her children and her friends children. She also rose up against the corruption in government (that would certainly have to be from the Republicans) and the terrible oil companies. The state would probably grow in size and figurative dimension to fit the bigness of a democratic party. She would be hailed as someone who overcame all odds in this male dominated society. She would have to modeled because her simple life in (that all regular women can related to) Alaska didn't fit in the higher society ways and that would justify spending $150,000. Which I would agree with...that would be a normal procedure to clean up for the national politics and all the clothes go to charity anyway. Karla would probably be able to help her with a new wardrobe because she had fine test at her sisters wedding in the gown that John paid for (I think it was $4,000). If Shara was a democrat, I could see Karla inviting her to her home if she were in the area.
Too bad she is a Republican because she REALLY fits the mode otherwise.
On thing else, I don't understand how women can say that women are needed in politics because men are different and don't understand women issues. Well now since it is said that this woman doesn't represent their issues because she isn't like them then it would follow that a man with the right understanding can represent women. That of portrayal of Sarah undercuts a lot of past and future arguments for male representation. Sometime you should be careful of what you wish for!
Feminism is not about women
The feminist movement is no longer about women. It is not about social equality for women. It is not about equal pay for equal work for women. It is not about healthcare for women. It is not about child assistance for working women. The feminist movement is about one, and only one, issue - abortion. If a women is the smartest, hardest working, high achieving, working mother of 100, and can be a powerful advocate for women's issues, but also is pro-life, she will be rejected as a traitor of women around the world. At least be honest about it.
And can I say one thing to all women that are voting for Obama because of the life/choice issue. If this is the only issue that is keeping you from voting for McCain, do you really believe that a Republican President in this election cycle will have the ability to push a strong pro-life agenda when Congress will have an even larger majority that they do now? Of course not - so feel free to vote for the candidate that represents 95% of your values instead of one that represents only 5%. John McCain is a man that you can trust to lead us through these tough social and economic times, Obama is a very big risk. Do the smart thing, vote for a man with a record, not a man that only has good speeches, radical ideas, and a history of radical associations, just because of the choice issue.
Is Palin wrong?
You betcha. It is very obvious that many of these posts are by "playa haters". You are all beating up on poor Carla because she did her thing. She did no more or less than any of the other NJ "leaders". This subject is on Palin. On this topic, Carla is completely right. Do we want another Bush in our mist. Heck no! Palin has lied about everything that she has run her campaign on. She knows absolutely nothing. She is a grade c actress with no substance. I can't wait for this election to be over, so that I don't have to listen to this knucklehead ever again. American's stupidity frightens me. You women say that Palin is "just like me". Well do you shoot mooose too?
Carla is Right, Once Again...
Since this blog was written on the 8th...it's been all down hill for Palin as her numbers sag more and more with each falling day.
Hell, even McCain campaign staffers are calling her a crazed primadonna.
We all know what the core of Sarah Palin's appeal is....and it ain't her intellect or her broad knowledge of the issues or her vast experience. Eh?
From Frederick Douglass
"You are all beating up on
"You are all beating up on poor Carla because she did her thing."
We are beating up on Carla because she was beating up on Palin.
uh huh... I see Palin is a liar with no substance and doesn't know anything. Wow what a substantive critique!
Americas stupidity frightens you? Well yours frightens me. Lemme guess you voting for Corzine the commie in 09?
Dats Right!
You go girl!!! Palin is a joke!! How dare she call herself feminist when she has the gall to to out and work, and be sucessful in a mans world! Dragging her children with her! If she wanted to have kids she should stay home and let her man take care of business!
Vote For Obama...reparations and justice are finally on the way!!!
Bad News
Bad News Obama's mama, you'll be just as poor during Obama's term as you are today. Only you won't have a job because business are preparing layoffs already to survive under Obamas new taxes and that's not including the hike when Bush's tax cuts expire.
I guess it's good that your his moma because even with all his finacial success, which was aquired during the BUSH YEARS, his own aunt still lives in a Boston slum. And his brother lives in a hut somewhere. If their living conditions haven't changed for his own, what do you really think he's gonna do for you?
How dare she call herself
How dare she call herself feminist when she has the gall to to out and work, and be sucessful in a mans world!
Wait.. is this a tongue in cheek post?
How dare she go out, work and become successful ?
