CIMINO ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY
FOR MERCER COUNTY FREEHOLDER
Life-long Resident Focused on Furthering County's Economic Prosperity, Open Space Preservation, and Protecting Families and Businesses
(Hamilton Twp.) – Life-long Hamilton Township resident John Cimino today announced his candidacy for Mercer County Freeholder to represent working families while expanding the region's economic prosperity. Cimino, 33, pledged to marry his professional experience with personal devotion to his home county as a member of the Freeholder Board.
"Having grown up in Mercer County and enjoyed all that it has to offer, I know that we need to protect and cultivate our local resources so that young families like mine can continue to grow and prosper here," said Cimino. "We need to focus on economic development and planning for future Mercer County generations to keep us moving in the right direction."
Cimino currently serves as the chairman of the Mercer County Planning Board and as a member of the Mercer County Open Space Preservation Committee. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Economic Development Association of New Jersey and is a member of the Hamilton Township Economic Development Advisory Commission and the Hamilton Township Redevelopment Agency.
As a member of the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Cimino would pledge to bring about economic growth while lessening the financial impact on county taxpayers. He also would seek to provide resources to protect residents and businesses from potentially devastating effects of natural or manmade disasters. In addition, John Cimino would work to continuously preserve acres of open space for the benefit of future generations of Mercer County families.
"The strength of our county and society is measured in how we care for our youngest generation and our elderly and disenfranchised families who need our help. The future, smart growth of our County must coincide with infrastructure improvements, continued open space preservation, and safety enhancements all the while protecting the quality of life enjoyed by Mercer County families," said Cimino. "I believe my education, business and governmental experience have provided me the foundation to be an effective Freeholder for the residents of Mercer County."
John currently works as a vice president at PNC Corporate Bank where he assists state, county and local governing bodies, and their respective authorities, with public financial services to handle their financial assets. He hopes to translate this professional service in municipal finance into a fresh perspective as a member of the Mercer County Freeholder Board.
"During recent months, I have been energized by the support of my fellow Mercer County residents as I have traveled around to community events and visited with members of the local democratic organizations. I look forward to continuing these conversations in earnest through the convention and afterwards should I be afforded the opportunity to be one of our Party's candidates for Freeholder," said Cimino.
Cimino also volunteers as a member of the Lakeview Child Care Centers Board of Trustees and the Robert Wood Johnson in Hamilton Young Professionals Group where he is a founding member.
John and his wife, Jeannine live in Hamilton Township with their infant son, Anthony John.
On March 15, 2008, the Mercer County Democratic Organization will meet to choose an individual to replace Freeholder Elizabeth Muoio who has announced her resignation from the Freeholder Board and to determine its candidates for Mercer County Freeholder
