Today, the Christie-Guadagno campaign unveiled a statewide coalition of Democrats from every county in the state endorsing the Christie-Guadagno ticket. The members of this coalition are setting aside political party in order to make the best choice for the future of New Jersey, citing Governor Jon Corzine's failed leadership and the need for meaningful change as catalysts in their decisions to endorse Chris Christie and Monmouth County Sheriff Kim Guadagno.
"As a lifelong Democrat, I am disappointed in Governor Corzine. He has consistently made our economy worse, and we're paying for his mistakes with the highest property taxes in the country and the highest unemployment rate in 32 years. It is time to talk about issues, not sling mud, and change the way our state does business," said Garfield Councilwoman Tana Raymond, the State Chair of Democrats for Christie.
Members of this coalition include prominent party leaders and officials, including former New Jersey Secretary of State Joan Haberle, Garfield Councilwoman Tana Raymond, Perth Amboy Councilman Ken Balut, Gloucester Township Councilwoman Crystal Evans, Linwood Board of Education Member Joseph Jacobs, Belvidere Mayor Charles J. Liegel Sr., Hudson County Young Democrat President Robert Mays, Hillside Mayor Joseph G. Menza, and Hi-Nella Councilwoman Chris Muska.
Former Secretary of State Joan Haberle: "Having worked in our state government for years, I know the importance of strong, principled leadership in order to get things done. As U.S. Attorney, Chris led the fight against corruption and achieved real results with 130 convictions of corrupt officials from both parties. I believe he will apply that same focused, solution-oriented approach as governor."
Tom Rodgers, Former President of the Toms River Democratic Organization, stated: "Last year, I voted for President Obama. This year, I'll be voting for Chris because I know New Jersey needs real change to fix our economy, improve education for our kids and bring our cities back."
