Senator Allen Joins State Leaders In Concerns Over Jon Corzine’s Attempts to Unfairly Influence Debate Schedule

PARSIPPANY, NJ – Today, Senator Diane Allen released the following statement on Jon Corzine’s attempts to unfairly influence the ELEC debate schedule:

“As ELEC meets today to consider proposed changes to the gubernatorial debate schedule, I call on the commissioners to maintain their independence and uphold the current debate schedule.  The pressure by Governor Corzine’s campaign to delay the debate a full three weeks is an obvious attempt to game the system for his own political benefit.  Such a delay would deprive New Jerseyans of a timely discussion of the issues in this campaign and raise questions over the independence of ELEC.  I urge the commissioners to reject the request before it today.”
