Claim of Independence by Greenstein & DeAngelo Runs Into Stubborn Thing Called "The Truth"
GOP challengers say incumbent rhetoric doesn't match the facts

Hamilton, September 29, 2009 - Saying that their career politician opponents Linda Greenstein and Wayne DeAngelo are either intentionally trying to mislead the public or have invented a new definition for the word "independent," GOP Assembly challengers Rob Calabro and Bill Harvey today slammed the incumbents over claims made in newspaper articles earlier this week claiming they were not rubber stamps for Governor Jon Corzine's agenda.
In the Trenton Times on September 25, 2009, Greenstein said she had "...one of the most independent records..." in the Assembly. The official record reveals that Greenstein voted "YES" on bills that Governor Corzine signed into law 97.9% of the time and has been a loyal supporter of his tax and spend fiscal agenda that is making New Jersey unaffordable for working families in Mercer and Middlesex counties.
Not to be outdone by his running mate when it comes to revisionist history, DeAngelo proclaimed that he is "...wholeheartedly not a Jon Corzine rubber-stamper..." in the Trentonian on September 25, 2009. The official record also betrays DeAngelo, who has voted "YES" on bills that Governor Corzine has signed into law 98.9% of the time.
"Like most politicians who feel their grip on power slipping away, Linda and Wayne have decided they are going to say anything to get re-elected," said Calabro. "With more and more people everyday dissatisfied with the direction our state is headed, the desperation from incumbents like Greenstein and DeAngelo will only grow."
"Facts don't lie," said Harvey. "They can call themselves independent all they want, but the truth is that Linda Greenstein and Wayne DeAngelo have been loyal rubber stamps for Jon Corzine's tax, spend and borrow agenda from Day 1 and they should be held accountable for it this November at the polls."
