Hamilton, August 26, 2009 - Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo should immediately return a $500 contribution he received from the scandal-ridden New Frontier PAC based in Burlington County in light of a series of investigative newspaper reports revealing the PAC was improperly run by Burlington County Democrat Chairman Rick Perr, who resigned in disgrace over the allegations on Sunday, said GOP challengers Rob Calabro and Bill Harvey today.
It was reported yesterday that Burlington County Republicans have filed a formal New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) complaint against Perr, former Burlington County Democrat Treasurer Jeff Meyer, who also resigned amidst the scandal, along with PAC Chairman Dean Buono and Treasurer Jack Senechal. Perr resigned shortly after Buono and Senechal admitted to reporters from the Burlington County Times that they had no authority over the PAC and that Perr and Meyer called the shots in an apparent violation of NJ ELEC law.
"First, Wayne DeAngelo should return this contribution immediately and without hesitation," said Calabro. "This scandalous PAC aided indicted ex-Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano in skirting local pay-to-play laws, brought down a prominent County Democrat Chairman and is likely under investigation by the State Election Law Enforcement Commission. If Wayne DeAngelo had any sense, he would distance himself from this PAC today."
Furthermore, Harvey said that it is imperative DeAngelo come clean and answer some serious questions about his dealings with the New Frontier PAC.
"Wayne DeAngelo has a lot of explaining to do," said Harvey. "He needs to answer these questions and fully disclose his dealings with the New Frontier PAC and its representatives without further delay."
