Rick Perr’s Extended Holiday
Democrat Chairman Breaks Promise to Avoid Personal Gain from Chairmanship(Mt. Holly, NJ) - The holidays may be over, but Burlington County Democrat Chairman Rick Perr seemingly has wasted no time adding another ornament to the Perr Family Tree.
During the Pemberton Township reorganization yesterday, the law firm of Gluck Walrath, LLC of Trenton was appointed township solicitor. Mr. Perr’s wife, Cindy, is a high level attorney with the firm.
Perhaps not coincidentally, this is the same Cindy Perr who was appointed by Governor Codey to the Burlington County College Board of Trustees.
“Within a matter of hours into the New Year, it appears that Rick Perr has misled the public. He pledged not to use his office for personal gain, but apparently that pledge does not extend to the Perr household, said Rich Levesque, Executive Director of the Burlington County Republican Committee.
“This is the same Rick Perr who claimed that the Burlington County Taxpayers Association, which he founded, was a non-partisan organization, Levesque added. “That kind of hypocrisy might work in Mr. Perr’s native Camden County, but it’s just a little too transparent to voters in Burlington County.
The appointment of Perr’s law firm during the Pemberton reorganization didn’t escape the attention of the lone Republican on council, who questioned why his Democrat counterparts were choosing an out-of-county firm.
According to the newspaper report, Councilman Thomas Inge asked the firm’s representative, Andrew Bayer, if he had a “relationship with the Burlington County Democrats.
Bayer’s response: “I know the county chairman, so the answer is yes.
