Burlington County Democrats Hypocrisy Case #1: Gail Cook’s Tax Record
Candidate Cook Talks the Talk on Taxes and Spending; But Doesn’t Walk The Walk
(Mt Holly, NJ) - The Burlington County Democrats campaign of hypocrisy has hit a new low, with the revelation of higher taxes and increased spending in the City of Beverly. It may not be new news to some, that Councilwoman Gail Cook and her Democrat colleagues on the Beverly Council have increased taxes and spending, but for the Democrats to make this a cornerstone issue in their Freeholder campaign, smacks of hypocrisy.
“I don’t know how Gail Cook can even say she stands for lower taxes and less spending and keeps a straight face, said Rich Levesque, Executive Director of the Burlington County Republican Committee. “Gail Cook is talking out of both sides of her mouth. It is a classic example of do as I say not as I do.
Local taxes for municipal purposes in Beverly have risen 73% and spending has increased a whopping 32% during Gail Cook’s tenure.
“Gail Cook voted for these budgets, said Levesque. “Did she somehow forget that they raised taxes and spending? Why are the Burlington County Democrats advocating for one platform but supporting another?
“The voters of Burlington County should reject Gail Cook’s candidacy for Freeholder, concluded Levesque. “I find it troubling that the Democrats are being so disingenuous with the voters of Burlington County with their campaign of hypocrisy.
