(Mount Laurel): Burlington County Democratic Freeholder candidates Chris Brown and Mary Anne Reinhart today called on their incumbent Republican opponents, Fenton and Jordan, to disavow Tom Wilson, the NJ GOP and the Republican insiders who bilked Burlington County Taxpayers to the tune of 2.7 million dollars. As yet another negative campaign mailer hit the streets, it is obvious that Fenton is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tom Wilson and the "Paulsen's 20".
The GOP mailers, authorized and paid for by the New Jersey Republican State Committee provides crystal clear evidence that Fenton is squarely in the pocket of Tom Wilson, and the same Burlington County insiders who allowed insider GOP lobbyist Bob Stears to steal $2.7 million from the Burlington County Bridge Commission.
"The Fenton campaign is desperate so they have once again resorted to the Karl Rove playbook of negative personal attacks. He and his donors and loaners are doing everything they possibly can to hold onto power," said Brown.
"By accepting the financial assistance of the NJ GOP Fenton is allowing Chairman Tom Wilson, the former partner of Bob Stears and the Republican State Committee to help keep the status quo in Burlington County. The same status quo that has kept the Republicans in power for 3 decades and been responsible for millions in higher taxes and a crisis of corruption," said Reinhart.
"Fenton and Jordan are so desperate to hold onto their power that they are aligning themselves with the NJ GOP who raised the money to finance this campaign from George Bush. With each mailer and negative ad it becomes painfully obvious that Fenton and Jordan are just a pawn for Tom Wilson, Glenn Paulsen, Bill Layton and the Republican machine," said Brown.
Brown and Reinhart reiterated their call for Fenton to demand the stolen money be returned to the taxpayers of Burlington County. "How can Fenton bring the change Burlington County taxpayers so desperately deserve when his campaign is being funded by the people who benefitted from Bob Stears and the millions of dollars he stole?" asked Reinhart.
