Brown Dedicated to Bringing Affordable Green Energy to Burlington County

(Mount Laurel) Chris Brown, Evesham Deputy Mayor and Democratic Candidate for Burlington County Freeholder today hosted a symposium on the crucial need for affordable green energy in Burlington County.

Brown and his running mate, Mary Anne Reinhart have made affordable green energy a cornerstone of their campaign for Burlington County Freeholder.

"Today's Green Symposium was an important step in taking the lead on bringing affordable, clean, efficient energy to Burlington County," said Brown.  "Leaders from across the state and region were in attendance including BPU Commissioner Joseph Fiordaliso, representatives of the DVRPC, Mercer County DOT (Hybrid vehicles) and Cross County Connection.  This program was something I envisioned earlier this year and with the help of our Township Manager it was a huge success."

"Since the incumbent Freeholders don't share our (Brown & Reinhart) belief that solar farms are a good idea we will continue fighting to display the leadership necessary to make these important initiatives a reality," said Brown.

"However, It is clear to me we are already dictating policy to the Burlington County Director of Resource Conservation who just announced today she wants to investigate a plan to install solar panels at a closed landfill," said Reinhart.

"During every economic cycle- and clearly we are suffering perhaps the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression right now - there is always opportunity," said Brown. "The current opportunity that we have before us is the way we generate and use energy.  For the first time we have the business world, environmentalists, scientists, government and residents all looking for alternative energy solutions.  Today we have come together to learn how we as a community can combine our resources to achieve an Evesham Renewable/Solar Energy Plan that will become the blue print for Burlington County."

"I am committed to implementing an energy plan that will promote environmental stewardship and conservation by a wide array of green practices and policies in the course of providing the most affordable, clean and cost effective energy plan designed to create energy audits, plan energy efficiency, green building, greening vehicle fleets, transportation, water conservation, and educational outreach, recycling and waste reduction, thus reducing the  carbon footprint that will make our county and region more environmentally friendly and cost effective- saving the taxpayers money," said Brown.

"Investing in energy infrastructure will not just make our neighborhoods cleaner and more environmentally friendly, it will create thousands of jobs and promote the energy independence we so desperately need," said Brown.
