EVESHAM COUNTY COMMITTEEMAN CALLS ON MAYOR BROWN AND COUNCILMAN MCKENNA TO RETURN TAINTED CAMPAIGN FUNDS
Brown and McKenna’s 2007 campaign accepted donations from a PAC with connections to a former North Jersey mayor charged in the recent federal corruption sweep which shook the NJ political community
Marlton – Evesham County Committeeman Sid Greenblatt today called on Evesham Mayor Randy Brown and Councilman John McKenna to return $20,000 in political contributions that they received from the New Frontier Committee.
The New Frontier Committee is at the center of a political controversy which has rocked the Burlington County Democratic Party. According to reports filed with the NJ Election Law Enforcement Commission, and as reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer and Burlington County Times, the New Frontier Committee raised $15,400 for former Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano. Also reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer, the (New Frontier Committee’s) first substantial contributions - a total of $20,000 - went to winning (Evesham Municipal) candidates Chris Brown, Randy Brown, and John McKenna.
“The New Frontier Committee has a black cloud hanging over its head and by association so do Mayor Brown and Councilman McKenna,” said Greenblatt. “Brown and McKenna should do the right thing and return the tainted funds which they received from this controversial PAC.”
A top Burlington County Democrat has since resigned from his party post and the Chairman of the New Frontier Committee, an Evesham resident and former Brown/McKenna municipal appointee has been silent.
“I also would like Brown and McKenna to explain their relationship with Dean Buono, the Chairman of the PAC in question and a former Evesham Township Prosecutor approved by Brown and McKenna,” said Greenblatt. “It really bothers me that someone connected with this PAC was employed by Evesham Township under Brown and McKenna’s watch.”
“The newspapers have been reporting the connection that this PAC has with Brown and McKenna and these stories, quite frankly, makes our town look bad,” concluded Greenblatt. “On behalf of the residents of Evesham, I am formally asking Mayor Brown and Councilman McKenna to return the $20,000, in contributions, that they received from the new Frontier Committee, so that we can move on as a community.”
