Hey Bill, What about Conaway and Conners?
Candidate Bill Brown gives thumbs down to McGreevey, but thumbs up to the Assemblymen who rubber stamped McGreevey’s tax, spend and borrow budgets
Mount Holly, July 9, 2009 – Burlington County Republicans released the following statement today in response to the latest batch of freshly baked contradictions coming from 8th District Assembly candidate Bill Brown and the Burlington County Democrats:
“Clearly caught off guard and embarrassed by yet another one of Bill Brown’s contradictory flourishes, the Burlington County Democrats have apparently settled on a newly-minted strategy for Brown’s candidacy: Firmly position Mr. Brown on both sides of every conceivable issue – no matter how ridiculous or unbelievable it sounds – and then launch negative attacks at the nearest Republican hoping to muddy the waters. Unfortunately for them, Burlington County voters won’t be fooled so easily. The fact of the matter is that it’s simply not possible for Bill Brown to be against former Governor Jim McGreevey’s tax, spend and borrow policies, while at the same time vigorously supporting two longtime Assemblymen who voted to enact those very policies in the State Legislature.”
“Assemblyman and longtime Trenton insiders Herb Conaway and Jack Conners – newly appointed captains of the Burlington County Democrat Team this year – were little more than rubber stamps for Jim McGreevey’s assault on New Jersey taxpayers and small businesses, and they have loyally served that same role for Jon Corzine,” said Burlington County GOP spokesman Chris Russell. “Bill Brown’s new tact of disliking McGreevey’s policies, while supporting the legislative record of Conaway and Conners, is akin to him announcing he hates ice cream, but loves ice cream sundaes. It just doesn’t make any sense at all.”Michael Doherty. a West Point graduate and one of the state's most conservative legislators, will take his seat in the State Senate today. A ... >
