Democratic Voters Should Make History and Vote for Bloschak
Belleville-Urban Republican Assembly candidate Andrew Bloschak, who is considered to be running the most aggressive challenge in an overwhelmingly Democratic district in the entire state, called on Democrats in his district to give him a shot on Tuesday so he can start working to rebuild Greater Newark’s economy and reform education for all children.
“I have been working hard since January to win this seat and I feel confident that we will surprise a lot of people on Tuesday,” Bloschak said. “To close the deal and bring change to Newark and its three inner suburbs of Belleville, Bloomfield and Irvington, I need not only every Republican and Independent vote, but I need Democrats who believe in better schools, safer streets and real job growth to join me in starting a new era in Trenton!”
Bloschak said he has way more in common with working people than Ralph Caputo, who collects four public paychecks adding up to more than $100,000 a year as well as two offshore tax shelters. “Ralph Caputo rather invest in offshore accounts than try to help people in our district and he even refused to donate one of his salaries to charity despite the economic challenges right in our backyard. As a lifelong labor union member and community activist, I am the person who has the track record and the life experience to make things better for average people of all backgrounds. As a former legislative director of both the American Postal Workers Union Local and the former President of the Public Watchdog legal reform group, I know how to lead and work with people,” Bloschak stated.
Bloschak also questioned why Caputo has failed completely as a local representative to utilize President Barack Obama’s stimulus program to help local communities. “Belleville, Bloomfield and Irvington have received very limited funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and Caputo has no plans to use the funding to create jobs in our district. On the other hand, I supported the Cash for Clunkers program, have devised a light-rail plan using stimulus funds that will reinvigorate the major retail areas in our district, and along with the President I support more charter schools in our communities, which Ralph Caputo is dead set against.” Bloschak added.
Bloschak also seeks to remind Democrats why the Republican Party dumped Caputo in the early 1970’s. “Ralph has been bluffing people for years and has accomplished virtually nothing in public office. There is a reason why he barely survived a Democratic primary for Freeholder in 2008. It is time for Democrats to give him the boot and elect a representative who will hit the ground running to make positive change,” Bloschak concluded.
