Bloschak: If its not a "Silk-Stocking" District, how can we afford Corzine's Budget, Ralph?
Belleville-Andrew Bloschak, Republican candidate for Assembly in the heavily urbanized and diverse 28th District in Essex County, called once again on Democratic Assemblyman, Freeholder and life-long public employee Ralph R. Caputo to vote for the best interest of his hardworking constituents against Governor Jon Corzine's anti-middle-class, anti-small business budget. Caputo said this past spring in an interview with PolitickerNJ that the 28th (which includes Belleville, Bloomfield, Irvington and parts of Newark), was not a "silk-stocking" district. Caputo's vote may prove decisive, as at least two South Jersey Democrats will join the entire GOP caucus in voting against the budget.
"This budget is a nightmare for New Jersey families. It has taken away the last bit of property tax relief with the end of rebates, and its balanced on $2 billion from the federal stimulus package that likely won't be there next year. Plus, it has raised key taxes and fees. There is nothing in this budget that creates an incentive for high-paying jobs or revitalization of our education system, which will be critical to ending this recession." Bloschak said. The Assembly candidate called for buyouts of state workers and tax incentives to lure new types of manufacturing to economically challenged areas as two possible ways to ease the state's financial burden. "We all know from the 1980's and 1990's that cutting taxes increases revenue and spurs growth. Jon Corzine migh not undersatand that, but a self-proclaimed conservative Democrat like Ralph Caputo should."
Bloschak said this budget vote was a defining vote in Caputo's career. "Ralph has been an Assemblyman for a total of six years including his service in the late 1960's, and he has been a Freeholder for seven years as well. He should know better than to vote for a budget that adds to the pain of middle-class families that are struggling in Essex County."
Bloschak urged 28th District residents to call the Assemblyman's office at (973)-250-0484 and tell him to vote "No" on the budget.
