(OCEAN CITY, October 28) – First Legislative District GOP Assembly nominees Mike Donohue and John McCann – responding to a strong editorial endorsement for Donohue today by The Press of Atlantic City – today released a list of endorsements the two had received through the course of the campaign.
“I’m very proud of my running mate, Mike Donohue,” said McCann. “He swept all four newspaper endorsements – he was endorsed by The Press of Atlantic City, the Vineland Daily Journal, the Cape May Star and Wave, and the Ocean City Sentinel. Those editorial boards know about Mike what I know about Mike, and what the voters of the First District know about Mike – that he’s a committed and principled leader who wants to go to Trenton to fight for lower taxes, less regulation, and reduced government spending. And they know that our opponents, Corzine Democrats Nelson Albano and Matt Milam, have voted with Jon Corzine 95 percent of the time, and they voted for nearly a billion dollars in higher taxes. Clearly, the newspaper editorial boards know that you can’t change Trenton until you change the people in Trenton.”
“I’m thrilled to have received the newspaper endorsements, but I’m just as proud of John for having received the endorsement of the Cape May County Association of Realtors,” said Donohue. “After all, these are the people who know John best – he’s a former President of the organization – and it says a lot about John that they’d endorse him long after he’s ended his service as President. They know he’s a dedicated community leader, determined to help create a better life for his neighbors and his community, and they know he’s a fighter.
“Endorsements are rewarding,” Donohue continued, “but the endorsement we really want is the endorsement of the voters of the First District, casting their ballots next Tuesday.”
In addition to the newspaper endorsements and the endorsement of the Cape May County Association of Realtors, Donohue and McCann have been endorsed by PENPAC (the political action committee of the Commerce and Industry Association), New Jersey Right to Life, and the Department of Corrections Commanding Officers Union. In addition, Donohue was endorsed by the New Jobs PAC of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association.
