You know that "global warming" is another political sham when NJ takes the national lead with an executive act.

Climate change (warmer and colder) is a fact. There was a time you could walk across the land bridge in the Bering Sea. I waiting for some liberal to claim man is to blame for it's disappearence.

Feel good (at least for liberals) legislation will only continue to burden the taxpayers of NJ.

As a taxpayer of NJ, do I get to see some type of benefit from the wind farm proposed off the coast? Where will I see MY financial benefit for that approval?

All one needs to ask is...where does all that energy-offset credit money go? Follow the money folks! Gore seems to be enjoying many fine trips in luxury jets and cars, burning up energy in his own luxury estate to boot! How much of every dollar sent into this "fund" actually makes its way to research that produces actual affordable energy alternatives?

I am a native of New Jersey (Princeton) that left in 1978 because I saw the writing on the wall. Too many democrats in a grab for more reasons to choke every last dollar from your pockets! When will voters in NJ wake up and see that these liberals have no interest other than their own government jobs in mind. The more they can fool you out of your money, the longer they have a job! Have you had enough?

I would love to return to my home state. But only if I can afford to live there! Of course, with democrats in office, you can bet they will keep the poor just that so they can keep promising they can "change" things. Let me know how that's working out for you so far!

We need a Global Warming Response Act like we need windmills to produce electricity.

Here are the facts about supposed manmade global warming:

a) Ice core data consistently shows the CO2 increases come about 800 years AFTER the temperature increases.
b) The Citadel of CO2 measurement, Mauna Loa station, sits atop the world's largest active (CO2-belching) volcano.
c) CO2 levels have been higher than today on three other ocassions within the last 200 years.
d) The IPCC recognizes the CO2 findings of one scientist, George Callendar, to the exclusion of 90,000 other measurements taken by hundreds of other scientists over the last two centuries.
e) 95% of all CO2 is generated by nature; the other 5% from man.
f) 99.999% of all water vapor is generated by nature; 0.001% by man.
g) Water vapor by a factor of 26 has more of a Spectral Absorption or GW influence than does CO2.
h) After the contributions of CH4, N2O, and CFCs are considered the total gw effect from man is 0.28%; the other 99.72% is caused by nature!
i) In terms of watts per square meter, the global cooling effect from greenhouse gases is only about 1/20 of the global cooling effect from increased low level clouds, produced by increased condensation nuclei, produced by increased cosmic ray flux, created by modulation of the Earth's magnetosphere, caused by increased solar wind and coronal mass particle ejections, caused by change in the Sun's angular momentum, caused by planetary mechanics.

Ask solar physicists and they will tell you that we have entered a global cooling phase that will reach a maximum within another 20 years. Solar cycle 24 is 8 months overdue. For every day the Sun remains blank of spots, the colder the seasons will become. Instead of worrying about global warming, I suggest everyone find out where to buy a pair of snow shoes. You will be needing them!

Has anyone else noticed the different terminalogy used by the media lately? First, it was global warming. Then scientific data demonstrated the earth's temperature was actually cooling so it was changed to climate change. This isn't dramatic enough because the earth's climate has been changing for millions of years and that's normal. So now we have climate crisis to describe this propaganda the liberal media and Hollywood want us to buy into!

Let's not forget Professors C. Little, C. Locky, and of course H. Penny.

I'm here in Queensland Australia, and this Winter has been the coldest so far. We have had consistent overnight temperatures below 5C (around 40F) for nearly three weeks now, and rarely do we get one night a Winter that low, let alone the last near 25 days or so, and for longer periods of time during the night consistently at that low temperature. Three times the temperature has been to 1C, (33F) the lowest ever recorded temperature for this Northerly area. There has been snow in unheard of places, and our Snow resorts, which get snow for only a couple of months a year (sometimes) have had the best season on record, with deep consistent snow.

However, what I want you all to do is the next time there is a story on this 'scam', listen very closely. Those with the agenda to serve have very subtly changed the name from global warming, and are now referring to it as Climate Change, and they've done this without blinking. That way, they can keep pursuing their agenda.
This is not about the Weather, people, it's just all about money.

Dear Assemblyman Michael Doherty,

I appreciate your desire to respond to the recent science surrounding sunspots and their climatic effects. However, sunspots have absolutely no relationship to the "Greenhouse Effect", a phenomenon well known to earth scientists for decades. Sunspots will come and go, but they act independently of greenhouse gas emissions. Sunspots can have a cooling effect, as can volcanoes, wildfire smoke, and persistent air pollution (see;” Brown Cloud – NASA”). Regardless, the greenhouse effect continues whether or not any of the above mentioned cooling effects occur.

Take advantage of the Global Warming Response Act and consider supporting an energy policy that doesn’t cause cancer, lung, heart disease, and global warming, they do exist.

New Jersey deserves praise for this impressive Act, please stop working against it. I realize as a Montanan I have no business taking up your time, however, as an earth science major (physical geography) and resident of the same atmosphere I felt it was a necessary letter to write.

chucklou: I began reading this thread and had to respond to Terry Black's amazing notion. Then, I got around to reading the thread and came to your post. It is perhaps not surprising that his letter elicited the same analogy! Perhaps you live there? Today, Cindy Adams column mentioned Cedarhurst, which reminded me of a pal whose parents lived at Far Rockaway, which reminded me of FJK airport, which reminded me of a cousin who lived on Flatbush Avenue, and then I read Terry Black's post and thought of how easy it should be to sell that amazing structure (at least one more time). LOL

I lived in jersey from 1947 to 2001. then I got the hell out of there with my retirement while I still had it. Here in Texas now and happy, with all my money and commen sense. True sunspots have nothing to do with green house gases,that whole term kills me as water vapor actually has a larger percentage but no one talks about it, but they do have a huge impact on the overall temperature of the earth. If the suns hotter that energy is absorbed by the earth.

I always ask the zealots why Greenland is called Greenland and why the vikings could grow grapes in New England when they got there.

Finally we have a strong voice from a reasonable politician. As information about the facts of global warming (oops, man-made global warming, oops, climate change), we should adapt our views as such.

Most of what you will read from Terry Black's links are from 2005, the pinnacle of the disinformation period on global climates. Since then, the oceans have proven not to be warming, quite the opposite. Since then, the 90's were proven not to be the warmest decade in the last century. Since then, sun activity has given scientist data to suggest it plays some role in the recent warming trend.

If nothing else, remember this. Plants feed on CO2 and laboratory test after laboratory test shows significant response by plants to increases in CO2 and I have yet to hear from a botanist about an increase in plant growth on the planet.

Antarctica refuses to mirror computer models so scientists state that it must have some sort of shield around it preventing it from reacting the way it should instead of admitting their computer model is in error.

The most terrible outcome of this hype will be this: The general population will doubt all science in the future, even when real danger can be proven. You can only cry wolf so many times.

Hey Terry science is not a consensus, science is hard facts. Remember there was a consensus that the earth was flat at one time, but look at it now with proven hard facts we (when I say we I mean people that believe in real science) know that the earth is round like a ball. Just remember Al Gore and his faithful disciples, like you, are one Texas compound shy of a cult.

It is a scientific fact the earth goes through warming and cooling periods as they have been recorded. Our vast population is pumping pollutants and gases into the atmosphere at an alarming rate. These will build up and trap the heat of the sun. Any natural cooling or heating is absolutely tiny compared to what is going to happen.
We have been in a cold "spell" for the last 8 years, which is about to end. When it does end things are going to get a whole lot worse. They won't slow again at all until the next cold spell in roughly 70 years.
Things aren't necessarily just going to get hotter they will get far more extreme, they already have, we have seen new records broken of cold as well as hot, there will be an increase in hurricanes. In some regions things might get colder like possibly Antarctica or Europe as the gulf stream reverses due to critical drop in the level of salt by fresh water from melting glaciers; though that might not be a bad thing necessarily.
The scarier thing is a likely chain reaction to our input; as we cause a slight temperature increase even it causes ice to melt and trapped methane to escape, the worst greenhouse gas imaginable, which heats the world up more then more is released. Soon it shall be too late and we will be unable to turn back. Those gasses don’t just disappear; it will take approx. 800 years for them to diminish. However it is not too late yet, though I fear our actions as a globe will come too late (past 2020)
Deniers simply cannot understand it, or are living on some idealistic fantasy world. The graphs and climate models may be a little out either way but they are all saying the same thing, the world is warming and it shall accelerate until we do something massively profound to stop it. Saying we are just micro-organisms which cannot affect the world is ridiculous: its micro-organisms like algae which created our atmosphere, its easy stuff for us to destroy it.
Forget all the hype though; our planet doesn't care about politics. Sadly no one person can make a difference it take the whole world to solve this global problem. In fact earth will go back to its usual cycles over about 800 years when we have caused to become temporarily unsuitable for our existence.
