The Bergen County Police Benevolent Association (PBA) today endorsed Emerson Police Chief Michael Saudino for sheriff.
"The PBA has never endorsed a candidate for any office, but this year we felt it necessary to stand behind someone we believe in, and Emerson Police Chief Michael Saudino is that someone," Chairman W. Mark Butler said in a statement.
The PBA cited Saudino's 38 years in law enforcement, including eight years as chief.
"His sincerity and honesty are what defines him as a person and as a leader," Butler said.
Saudino is running against Sheriff Leo McGuire.
