Bush Team Is Transforming Middle East,
But Drive-By Media, Liberals Can't See It

RUSH: All right, the Democrats, the liberal media, Drive-By Media obviously upset at the way this is going in Lebanon and with the Israelis. You get so many conflicting points of view. The Israelis are shocked and stunned by the rockets that are being launched by the Hezbos. They didn't expect this kind of response. Why, it's a new kind of enemy. Others are saying the Hezbos are in trouble. The Sheik Nasrallah leader guy is hiding out somewhere. The latest is that he's in the Iranian embassy in Beirut. That's one thing the Israelis will not attack -- or he is in Damascus as we pointed out yesterday. They are firing longer-range rockets that have stunned everybody.
Then, of course, the Drive-By Media, "Bush looks totally defeated." There are numerous columns today about, "Oh, Condoleezza Rice has blown it. I mean, she may have done the right thing in terms of diplomacy, but she's losing the PR battle." What did I tell you people two or three days ago? The PR battle matters more to these people than reality does. Then, Eugene Robinson, a columnist in the Washington Post today says, (paraphrasing) "It's Condi's war now, because of her statement over there that we're not going to go back to the status quo. It's Condi's war, and the blood is on her hands, and we're not even at war there." Not directly. There aren't any US troops in this battle.
Then, you know what else I've noticed? Howard Fineman is saying Bush looks defeated and so forth, body language. I think it's just the opposite. I think it's a transformational process underway. It's going on right under these people's noses. You know, I think Bush at times is his own worst enemy on certain things when it comes to communicating to the American people exactly the scope of the dire threat we face. I don't think half of the free people of the world look at what's happening with militant Islamism at all accurately. I don't think they're bothered by it yet, I don't think the world yet realizes what the objectives of these militant Islamofascists are, it's going to take awhile before the world wakes up. The world's always slow to wake up.
The Brits didn't wake up until Hitler was on the march, and it's going to be the same here in this circumstance. It's all going to have to unfold as naturally as things do. But I get a sense that Bush is now operating on all cylinders. I don't see this body language of defeat. The Drive-By Media is spinning something entirely different, a different reality out there. But to me he is in command, the world is looking and even deferring to him. His administration is speaking with one voice, Condoleezza Rice and John Bolton, who, by the way, made mincemeat of Senator Kerry yesterday during his confirmation. I have to let you hear this, since I've mentioned it now. Grab audio sound bite 15. This is just fabulous. This is a smack down of Senator Kerry at the Foreign Relations Committee confirmation hearing for Bolton. Kerry says, "Are you prepared...?" He's talking about North Korea. "Are you prepared to go to bilateral talks?"
BOLTON: Quite the contrary. We said expressly that what we wanted from North Korea was not simply a return to the six-party talks, but an implementation of the September 2005 joint statement from the six-party talks, which would mean their dismantlement of their nuclear weapons program.
VIETNAM VETERAN JOHN KERRY: This has been going on for five years, Mr. Ambassador.
BOLTON: It's the nature of multilateral negotiations, senator.
VIETNAM VETERAN JOHN KERRY: Why not engage in a bilateral one and get the job done? That's what the Clinton administration did.
BOLTON: Very poorly, since the North Koreans violated the agreed framework almost from the time it was signed. And I would also say, senator, that we do have an opportunity for bilateral negotiations with North Korea in the context of the six-party talks, if North Korea would come back to them.
RUSH: Oh, that is just classic. "Very poorly, Senator." (interruption) Who? Kerry's was? Oh, Mr. Snerdley, who watched this -- big, exciting Thursday for you, huh? His hand was over his face. Kerry was just humiliated by, of course, this "bully," John Bolton. One more of Senator Kerry at the same confirmation hearing. He added this.
KERRY: If you're a leader in North Korea, you've seen the United States attack Iraq.
RUSH: Yeah?
KERRY: Presumptions of weapons of mass destruction that didn't exist. If you announce a preemptive strategy of regime change, if you are pursuing your own new nuclear weapons, bunker-busting nuclear weapons, and you're sitting in another country, you would have a perception of threat that makes you make a certain set of decisions. And historically throughout the Cold War, that drove the United States and the then Soviet Union to escalate until ultimately President Reagan, conservative president, and president Gorbachev said we're going to come down in Reykjavik to no weapons. So we reversed 50 years of spending money and chasing this thing. I would respectfully suggest to you that North Korea is sitting there making a set of presumptions. And unless you begin to alter some of the underlying foundation of those presumptions, you're stuck.
RUSH: You're stuck? How about we're stuck. Anyway, you know what he just did there. He unwittingly admitted that the Iraq war has put pressure on North Korea, and then you talk about either a misunderstanding or mischaracterization of how the Cold War ended; it was the opposite of drawing down missiles and not spending any more money. Reagan and Gorbachev did not agree to get rid of all missiles. Gorbachev proposed it, Reagan walked out at that point. I'll never forget Reykjavik. Everybody knows that what ended the Cold War was our threat to spend even more on anti-missile systems. It was called Star Wars, and the Soviets knew they couldn't keep up, and they were just imploding of their own immorality at the same time.
A bunch of powerful forces converged at a moment in history and led to the defeat of the Soviet Union. Now we've got a new similar threat that's effervescing and bubbling up out there, and it is worldwide, and it's militant Islamism. You have to say, Neville Chamberlain at least ended up recognizing he was wrong. That's the difference between Neville Chamberlain and the liberals in the American left today. Chamberlain, when he was duped by Hitler, he eventually realized he was wrong and then supported the Churchill government. The liberals today are of a different sort. They are treacherous.
In fact, Peter Beinart calls them out today in the Washington Post, the editor of The New Republic, really calls them out on this. You can read it any number of ways. To me, it is another Drive-By Media warning to the Democrat Party. "Hey, you guys, better shape up." It's an advice piece. It's pretty hard hitting. I'll share some excerpts with you as the program unfolds today. What I was going to say here before I interrupted myself with John Kerry, though, is that the president's operating on all cylinders. Got one voice going here. Rice and Bolton, the rest of the world is deferring to us.
The Drive-By Media's gone out and found some Arab street reaction that says, (paraphrasing) "You know, the Arabs are changing their minds about this. The early condemnation of Hezbollah, but now more and more Arabs are supporting the Hezbos." If you read the story, the story doesn't say that. It purports to say that, and a duped New York Times subscriber will believe it says that, but it's not what it says. You know what else is not going on? Has this struck you people as it has struck me? There aren't any leaks coming out during this Israeli-Hezbo confab from the government, from the administration that show discord, the usual Colin Powell, Richard Armitage leaks I don't see. I haven't seen any.
I haven't seen anybody at the state department, the Pentagon or the CIA run to the New York Times or the Washington Post with a story about how there's terrific division in the government here and the administration and how everybody is humiliated and embarrassed over how incompetent Condoleezza Rice is. I've not seen any of that. So the Drive-By Media -- in one of the most humorous, ridiculous moves in recent weeks -- has gone to the architect of the failure twice of Mideast policy in Iran. Warren Christopher, who was the architect.... This is precious! Warren Christopher, the guy who led Carter's foreign policy during the time of the 444-day hostage seizure by the Iranians of American citizens, resulting in the empowerment of the Islamofascists in Iran, Warren Christopher with a piece in the Washington Post today telling everybody the right way to handle this.

Pass the oxycontin, I have a headache after reading that crap.
And my point (not that it matters) is that politicsNJ is a website devoted to NJ politics (hence the name)...not devoted to re-hashing the Middle East conflict, as you and John Wayne attempt to do nearly every day with your hijacking of threads devoted to NJ topics.

First of all Mr. Democrat, this thread is about a Bergen County Freeholder candidate who's son is an Israeli soldier who is being called up to fight Hezbollah. A war which Bob Menendez has completely ignored. Everything I have said here it completely relevant to the topic.
Second, if you got a headache from reading Rush's transcript, it was over the fact that John Bolton made John Kerry look like a jackass(slick pun intended).
Third, stop ducking my question. Who's side are you on in this conflict? You're continued silence only further solidifies my doubts as to where your allegiances lie.

Actually, I really just have no desire to engage in this debate with you. It just seems rather pointless to me.
I'd rather discuss more important things, like Bob Torricelli and Roger Chugh.
