McPHERSON TOPS LIST OF AVIATION SAFETY
NADA/F Honors Contributions of Freeholder & Mayor
Hackensack, NJ – The National Air Disaster Alliance/Foundation is honoring Freeholder Chairwoman and Rutherford Mayor Bernadette P. McPherson for her dedication to public safety at their Annual Awards Dinner on November 11th. The elected official will receive an aviation safety award for her exemplary work concerning Teterboro Airport.
“It’s with the help of my friends and colleagues that we were able to make the strides we have at Teterboro, said McPherson. “The Coalition has been instrumental in promoting awareness and my freeholder board has helped me pass resolutions further raising the standard of safety.
McPherson quickly took the reins after the February Teterboro Airport accident, and has been offering aggressive resolutions throughout 2005 to reduce overall operations and to institute a curfew at Teterboro. As Chair of the Law & Public Safety Committee, and Co-Chair of the Coalition for Public Health and Safety, she has been commanding meetings with representatives from the Port Authority, the OEM and the Sheriff’s Department to ensure appropriate emergency equipment is on hand at the airport, and to institute additional measures of safety and security.
“I’m not backing down yet, said McPherson. “The operations at Teterboro have evolved past their role, and it’s a serious safety concern for our community. I stand behind Congressman Rothman, and each initiative that puts the safety of our community first.
