JOHN DRISCOLL'S BACKERS: READY, AIM, FIRE
By Ben FeldmanHACKENSACK - They say politics make strange bed fellows. Sometimes however, your political partners fit you like a glove. Take John Driscoll and the Bergen Republican Machine supporting his campaign. The Bergen Republicans backing Driscoll also helped push an extreme right-wing agenda in Henry McNamara's failed 2002 campaign for County Executive and Paul Duggan's doomed 2008 bid for Freeholder that would have allowed assault rifles to legal in Bergen County neighborhoods.
"Thanks to the efforts of Bergen's Bravest, crime in our county is down," said Freeholder Julie O'Brien. "If the people backing John Driscoll had their way we'd have the laws preventing our streets from being flooded with assault rifles revoked. Views like that simply don't reflect the values of our residents."
Outside the world of politics, Driscoll's job already has him entangled in some sticky alliances. Driscoll has spent the past 21 years as a salesman for Lorillard Tobacco, the nation's 3rd largest tobacco company and the purveyor of brands like Newports. The company, for whom Driscoll has said he was "proud" to work for, is in the middle of a lawsuit against the Obama Administration for limiting it's ability to sell cigarettes near children.
Perhaps worst of all, Driscoll is running with Rob Hermansen, a Mahwah councilman who forced through 21.8% worth of tax increases in just 3 years and helped jack up water rates on Mahwah residents by 62% annually.
"You can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep," Freeholder Vernon Walton said. "The fact that John Driscoll chooses to stand with Right Wing extremists, Big Tobacco and a running mate taxing Mahwah's working families out of house and home? I think that really says it all."

The only thing the Bergen County Republican "machine" has generated is FAIL. For almost a decade. The Democrats are only truly safe if the refrigerator salesman and his hired hacks remain convinced that they are 'master campaign planners.'
BCRO Guyz, you're just not competent campaign planners. You're not good at picking messages. You have utterly failed to get your candidates into the paper, despite ridiculous openings provided by the Dems. So stop it, OK? Just sit back, hands off the wheel, and learn to take credit for what you are doing right: raising money.
But running campaigns? Not so much. It's just not a competency. But that's OK. 'Cuz as long as you raise money, and get some good candidates, you're doing your job.
The take-away: (a) BCRO sticks to raising money and selecting candidates. (b) Candidates stick to picking issues and messages they are passionate about and can win campaigns. (c) Ben Feldman sticks to generating mirthful press releases.

One can only wonder where our Freeholders were
yesterday. How about gambling in Atlantic City. Some of this stuff you just can not make up. 1st the event I am told is not sponsored by the County. When you dig a little deeper, you find out that the County sets up the transportation. They do not actually provide the buses, they setup a company in Carlstadt to do it. Then they stagger within half hour intervals. The buses all 35 of them are full of seniors from all over Bergen County. This is where it gets good, even though the County really does not sponsor the event Dennis McNerney meets these seniors exactly the Tues. before election day as they are getting off the buses. You will never believe who drove the 110 miles to see our wonderful Seniors too. Yes, as you know it is her only job and the good Rev. had nothing else better to do than to be their with their campaign staff. As the seniors were departing the bus they were getting stuck with O'Brien and Walton signs. This did not make some of the members on the bus too happy. So after a nice day at Atlantic City what did our seniors come back to find on their chairs in each bus a microvable bag of popcorn with Julie and Vernon's sticker on it. Nice to know we allowed people back on the buses with people's personal belongs there unsupervised. County employees doing again wahatever they want. Amazing here the taxpayer is hurting and Vernon and Julie are down potentially spending taxpayer money for their own good times. But remember this is not a County sponsored event, wink, wink.

As for Hermansen you drag up some bullshit charge brought by a senile old woman in which no wrong doing was found and the candidate was 100% cleared by anyone who looked at the case and you try to smear him with it.
