HACKENSACK – In a hastily written rant designed to read like a newspaper article, Republican candidate Bob Hermansen betrayed a fundamental misunderstanding of the structure of government and the issues impacting it. In this particular piece of ‘By-Hermansen-for-Hermansen’ journalism, Hermansen asserted that it was the county that forced him to raise taxes on Mahwah families by 22% in just three years.
In fact, the county has not raised the tax rate on it’s citizens during Freeholder O’Brien and Freeholder Walton’s terms and the tax rate assessed by the county has no direct impact on municipal tax rates. Regardless of what the county’s rate municipalities are free to lower, maintain or…in Hermansen’s case…raise taxes on it’s citizens.
“You can change the discussion, you can change tactics but you can’t change the facts,” said Freeholder O’Brien. “Bob Hermansen’s sleight of hand makes it clear that he’s not honest enough to own up to the consequences of his actions and he seems to have a disturbing lack of knowledge for the position he’s running for. Before he set out to represent the interests of more than 900,000 people I would have assumed Bob had Googled ‘What does a freeholder do?’”
“Bob mentions putting an end to ‘passing the buck’ in his statement. But the only bucks being passed in recent years are the ones from the wallets of Mahwah’s taxpayers right into Hermansen’s pockets,” Freeholder Vernon Walton said. “The acidic tone of his piece brings to mind one of my favorite phrases: the truth hurts.”

Educate Hermansen ?
on how to be a team player first ?
seeds? and selfish campaigning are turnoffs
Paramus, Park it..
Only in Bergen do republicans come out of their holes to attack other Republicans. Only in Bergen do folks that are so used to losing, wish to once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Paramus, do everyone a favor, crawl back into the hole from which you came.

Et tu, Brute? Let's us see Mr. Driscoll has his own personal stickers, his own personal shopping bags. In fact it was he who was called to the principals office, in the article by the Bergen Record. As for the seeds, you may want to ask the tobacco salesman about those. People actually seem to like them. All but Mrs. O'Brien from what I understand. Selfish campaigning, kind of like having a candidate campaigning on his own and only handing out his own stuff, wow and I thought you were attacking Hermansen.
Mr. Feldman
Seems to me that you might be able to write and put words in people's mouth because people know Julie has trouble constructing her own sentences. Math though you and the quoted Freeloaders seem to have failed. Please explain to this tax payer, how the tax rate stays the same when they raised taxes by 7% last year. My tax bill showed an increase to the County again this year. Can you please advise? As for Mrs. O'Brien she has been on the Board for over 3 years and her and Vernon still does not know what a Freeholder does except to raise my taxes. The time is coming for Bergen to realize what Ramsey already did, Bergen will run better without her and him. Like sands in the hour glass, their time is running out. 32 days until it all ends for Joe and puppets. Joe will be heading to jail by then and his puppets will be cleaning out their desks in Hackensack.
Try Googling "Resume Writing"
If Jules n Vern would spend less time critiquing the stylistic content of a press release and more time actually doing their jobs, perhaps Bergen County wouldn't be in the financial morass it has found itself.
The fact is, Bergen County is the 4th highest taxed county in the ENTIRE COUNTRY. How did it get that way if their taxes didn't go up? Meanwhile, Rob's town of Mahwah has the 4th lowest taxes in Bergen County.
Come November, which "4th" do think the people of Bergen would rather have in that chair? I think its time for Walton and O'Brien to update the resumes and start looking for a new job. Just a word of advice, in the real world, if you perform anything like you have as freeholders, you won't get a 4 year term to make things worse.
