Fifis Reiterates Call for Van Pelt to be Fired ImmediatelyIndecisiveness by Mansdoerfer Hurts Lumberton Taxpayers
Chris Fifis, Democratic Municipal Chair in Lumberton, today reiterated his call for Mayor Mansdoerfer and the all-Republican Lumberton Twp. Committee to immediately fire double-dipping and recently arrested Twp. Administrator Daniel Van Pelt.
"As a Lumberton resident I am angry that our Administrator, whose $90,000 salary is paid by taxpayers still has his job despite being arrested in one of the sleaziest corruption probes we have seen," said Fifis.
"Mayor Mansdoerfer and the all-Republican Committee in Lumberton hand-picked Van Pelt and let go of long time Administrator and Lumberton resident June Madden and gave him a big raise to boot," said Fifis. "Their hesitancy to show the leadership Lumberton residents deserve suggests they are completely out of touch and part of the same, Paulsen led, Burlington GOP team that has been involved in numerous scandals at the Bridge Commission and other public agencies."
"This is exactly why we need real reform in Lumberton and Burlington County. Taxpayers have been decimated by one Burlington County Republican corruption scandal after another. We deserve better. I am again calling for the all-Republican Committee to immediately fire Van Pelt," said Fifis.
"On behalf of all the taxpayers of Lumberton, we call for an immediate and independent investigation of Van Pelt's activities in Lumberton. This Committee has no credibility to conduct a thorough audit that taxpayers desperately deserve. The same all-Republican Committee who brought this corrupt double-dipper into our town and continue to allow him access to millions of dollars of taxpayer money has zero credibility to conduct the investigation," said Fifis.
