"The ordinance that my colleagues and I proudly passed would have saved $50,000 per election and significantly increased community participation in the election process. It was a much needed, long overdue measure that the Courier Post praised for its cost-saving, community participation components," said Sarcone. “The ordinance would have specifically let the voters determine whether they supported this change.”
Sarcone believes this is another attempt by the Burlington County Republicans to thwart reforms and instead turn Evesham into the personal piggy bank of the now infamous “Paulsen’s 20”. At the Township’s July 1st reorganization meeting many of the Republicans strongest donors were given lucrative contracts by the newly minted Paulsen’s 20 puppets of Croft, Howarth and Hackman. This occurred even after it was discovered their team used an illicit fundraising operation to circumvent the Township’s Pay-to-Play ordinance. That issue is still under review by the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.
“Croft, Howarth and Hackman promised residents that they could cut taxes yet with-in their first two weeks in office have committed to spend $50,000 an election without even giving the residents a say on the issue,” exclaimed Sarcone. “Last night's vote by Howarth, Croft and Hackman directly disavowed their entire campaign platform to cut costs in Evesham."
Sarcone is also taking issue with the trio’s decision to call a special meeting on July 27 to expedite a second reading, essentially rushing their efforts through the legislative process
“Throughout her political career, Dawn Addiego has been at the forefront of just about every political scandal in Burlington County. From the patronage and mismanagement of the golf course, to Bob Stears stealing $2.7 million from the Bridge Commission, to Martha Bark’s no show jobs Dawn Addiego has been one of the Republican leaders running up the corruption tax,” said Sarcone.
“Now, her handpicked candidates, less than three weeks from assuming office, have all ready proven they will follow in her footsteps. First, they blatantly circumvented our pay to play ordinance, than they appointed the captain of the Paulsen’s 20 to a lucrative contract and now they are thwarting a tax savings initiative that will save Evesham $50,000 an election.
This is a good time for Dawn to begin repairing her legacy. She needs to call on her handpicked candidates to give the residents a voice in a decision that will save them tens of thousands of dollars. It is clear that the same people who blatantly circumvented our campaign finance laws to get elected are now doing an end around to stop the voters from voting on this important measure," said Sarcone.
"Addiego must immediately stop this blatant attempt to put taxpayers back in the dark. Evesham deserves better than another golf course debacle orchestrated by Addiego'" said Sarcone.
