Statement from Burlington County Democratic Chairman Rick Perr:
"Tonight’s amendment to the Burlington County Budget made by Freeholder Chris Brown and seconded by Freeholder Mary Anne Reinhart epitomizes the very essence of why a record-breaking number of voters went to the polls last November to overwhelmingly send them to office.
Brown and Reinhart led the fight to save jobs for 52 hard-working men and women of Burlington County. 52 families, dedicated to our shared vision for making Burlington County better, can sleep easier tonight thanks to the tireless efforts of Chris Brown and Mary Anne Reinhart.
This is precisely why over 100,000 taxpayers supported the “Straight A’s for Change” platform espoused by Brown and Reinhart. Brown and Reinhart have brought real change to the Burlington County Freeholder Board. Gone are the days of the incumbent Republicans rubber-stamping the agenda of their political bosses.
The Burlington County Democratic Party is proud of Freeholders Brown and Reinhart for their steadfast commitment to making Burlington County more Affordable, Accountable and Accessible and standing up for the working families especially in these difficult economic times. Tonight’s victory for Burlington County taxpayers also serves as another reminder that we need Kimberly Kersey and Jim Bernard on the Freeholder Board to ensure that the entire “Straight A’s for Change” agenda is accomplished.
The Republicans still control the Freeholder Board, the Bridge Commission and all other County Agencies and Authorities. Tonight’s result was a vivid example of why the Burlington County Democratic Party is the party that puts people before politics."
